Santa Monica Studio's Head of Creative Cory Barlog says the gods in God of War Laufey have "this really terrible relationship with power and how they abuse all of it." https://t.co/a4Mpm3HM93

A great answer from Ariel, the Game Director on God of War Laufey about why the internets reaction is welcome.
"I’m so thankful that we have people who care. And whether or not they care, they’re upset, or they think we should do something that’s different, I would rather they care."

@PlayStation See. This is good stuff. This is what I’m talking about it’s all about how y’all present this stuff in telling you.
I think showing the unedited gameplay like they did in the OG video was a mistake…
I’m more interested now knowing these premises.
How is that photo sexualizing Sciel? That's a normal swimsuit.
Even if, Its also an unlockable outfit you have to go seek out. Also, this wasn't the predominant look for Sciel in the marketing they used the Exhibitioner outfit for the vast majority of the marketing.
Which, if you have forgotten, the reveal of GOW: Laufey (i.e., the marketing) is what this whole debate is about.
An example of over-sexualizing characters is like Stellar Blade or The First Descendent. To define this term, its often when they make the character have large breasts and show a lot of cleavage.
But there are other factors too. Frankly, I respectfully can't believe I have to explain this to you...
Because they weren’t in ever in revealing swimsuits? Those unlock-able swimsuits are pretty normal looking…
You have to go find them to begin with and the majority of the time playing you are probably in one of the many other outfits that aren’t revealing either. Like the base outfit.
@_Deez_Games I for one was pissed about a rumored Atreus game bc I thought the Atreus missions in Ragnarok were way worse than the Kratos missions in terms of combat mechanics.
If they were to make an Atreus game they need to seriously improve on that.
@imkaylamarie You’re just pretending not to understand the situation. The idea you can’t criticize a God of War game which has always had Kratos as THE god of war is just not reasonable.
We don’t owe Santa Monica Studio or Sony any loyalty.
The whole “Real gamers do this. Real gamers do that.” Is just all the no true Scotsman fallacy over and over again.
You don’t define what a “real gamer” is and neither can I or anyone.
We have the right to criticize whatever we want and on the contrary others can criticize our critiques.
Thats just freedom of speech.
