@Deane38967David You can want two things at once. To be an MP for a community he’s from and had served as mayor. And also to serve nationally at the highest level. Nice co treat with Farage who had hardly been in his constituency.
@raelbrav A. You get to choose a better PM for the next 3 years, whatever happens after the next general election
B. The Reform candidate isn’t very good.
That’s it really.
@Sweettalkin53@DPJHodges So he can’t argue that people are being unjust in how they talk
About her? You may disagree with someone but think they deserve to be fairly represented, as we all do.
@SausageIzzy Apart from all that yeah she was great. If someone agreeing with your views, despite not being able to be effective is your thing, then she was obviously brilliant.
@SausageIzzy She had not of the personal or political skills needed. Terrible communicator; built a cabinet of sycophants; didn’t take advice or build momentum towards a major decision: thought her election by party members was a mandate to change course on their manifesto.
@danielanadj77 Well it wasn’t just about foreign holidays. I voted remain but there’s more to the nation than economic or other practical inconveniences.
@MrsFinkelstein1@politixintheuk Burnham hasn’t jsut won in Manchester. He’s massively outperformed the party. Maybe that won’t work nationally. But it’s maybe better than Starmer who has somehow managed the exact opposite. Underperformed a massively unpopular government.
@MrsFinkelstein1@politixintheuk And yes he lost leadership elections I don’t think losing an election is a bad thing, actually. I think people can grow and develop and become better by losing. Starmer would have been better if he’d lost more elections. He doesn’t have any political skill as a result.
@MrsFinkelstein1@politixintheuk Ok well I respect your view and it’s a valid one. But i think the man can’t communicate, he can’t create a narrative and there’s no modern political success without one as people don’t recognise success unless you can communicate it.
@MrsFinkelstein1@politixintheuk Yes is is. It’s not strictly necessary. But given the national situation I think it’s a good idea. We need a decent PM and I though he’s got a better chance of doing that
@SueEdwa34765459@politixintheuk Different argument. I however think given how ooor Starmer is and the fact there’s no obvious replacement, the. I think it’s a necessary welcome contest.
@Rothbury01669@sneeisme Well you’ve heard of loads of towns that did so I think your point is that Durham was an outlier. I’m 53 and had had lasagna, gone to McDonald’s, eaten Chinese food etc by the time I was 12. And I was in a small northern market town.
