@lauriewired I worked with Risto and Ken Stanley on Othello playing a few years after this at UT. That was back when we coded the neural nets by hand. No tensor flow or pytorch.
My 9 yo daughter came in and asked me what this was. I started to explain about e and its significance and show her on a calculator. She then says to me: “dad it’s supposed to be a 9”.
This system is ridiculously easy to game. Anyone who manages projects knows people who play the “status game”. Without anyone digging in and auditing what’s being accomplished this would just be a futile exercise.
@martinmbauer I’ve noticed that LLMs seem to be good at providing information but often cant express the “why” part because that requires too much abstraction.
@buttonslives There is some truth to that in treatment for OCD but it’s how you choose to react to unpleasant feelings that can bring either healing or make things worse.
@martinmbauer It just seems as though the system makes educating people harder. How can we fight against the deluge of ignorance coming out of social media?
@MattWalshBlog Do we “try everything” before getting any other illness treated? Why treat ADHD differently unless we believe contrary to the evidence that it doesn’t exist?
@Philip_Goff True. Aquinas’s order of charity is really intended to be a tie breaker when all things are equal. It does not say we should ignore the dire needs of others in order to enrich our kin.
