new crazy taxi sounds horrible. apparently it does feature an arcade mode that’s structurally closer to the previous games but everything they’re emphasizing here is like a worst case nightmare scenario
Why game companies focus on graphics instead of gameplay?
1) the devs must show the game to upper management. They don't play it. They just look at the cut scenes. So to get greenlit you need cool cut scenes that the players will probably skip.
2) the game journalists who review your game only care about screen shots. They will play it for maybe 10 minutes. Superficial looks, not depth, is what they will review.
I'm not decrying graphics. Great graphics make a game better. But game play entices players. If devs ignore management and journalists you can get incredible games. Remember Dwarf Fortress?
And look at Fallout: New Vegas - really, kind of chunky graphics even for its time, but terrific gameplay. Also neaer-perfect soundtrack.
The worst part of gaming showcases for me is the constant cutaways to footage of the dev's studio.
All of your studios look the same. I don't want to see a bunch of nerds sitting at their desks, I want to see your game and why I should buy it.
Comparisons to 1/Warlords don't feel helpful.
It didn't give the player FIVE different defensive buttons/actions. Enemies moved and behaved in accordance with player capabilities.
Remember Warlords used tank controls whereas WotS has free cam/omnidirectional movement.
@LeoKRogue Just to show how in bad faith those comparison were. They wouldn't even show you the literal next screen in Warlords after introduction, let alone have honest talk about games' differences.
Do these jobbers look passive here?
I received this message, below. Normal parents are simply terrified of their children being reported to Prevent, because they know what kind of damage the British state would inflict on them. Please read and understand the climate of fear you'll have to live in if your children are ever so slightly politically aware.
In this case, a Prevent referral may result from a child saying that an extra government tax on his family's little honesty box business is going to be spent on foreigners. This is true, and being terrified of saying the truth is not normal or healthy for adults, let alone children.
"Hi Firas
I’m sorry if this is something you cannot help with but I’m not sure where to turn to or what to do.
My son who’s [in primary school] was at his [redacted] school today (we homeschool and send him and his sister there to socialise).
He was questioned today by one of the women who work there about our honesty box. My daughter runs an egg and honey honesty box and we heard the gov was planning a £1k a year charge potentially. So he’s been privy to the conversation.
He understands taxation, my wife and I are both business owners and we have been actively teaching them the mechanisms of business and running one.
His sister was upset about this potential tax but we reassured her it’ll be ok and we’ll just have to do what mummy and daddy do when the government wants more taxes, we work harder and earn more.
When he was questioned about it he must have been emotional as the school worker took him aside to talk about it. He told her about the possible tax and she questioned him (we don’t know for sure what she said) about why it’s bad for the honesty box.
Whatever she has said has resulted in my son saying “the government will give it to the other people” and when pressed by the worker who the other people were he said black people. He tells me she was making notes when they were talking.
The woman spoke to me about it on pickup and mentioned Prevent and how [this part of England] is rife with the far right, she learnt about this on her Prevent course.
She said she wasn’t worried or thought he was being racist. I explained that you can’t get away from this stuff on the TV and radio all the time etc and told her about the gang rape two weeks ago of a girl in [our area] outside the school. We had been in [that area] at another homeschool ground the week before and they were angry about this and voicing their opinions strongly. I fear he’s picked up something along the way.
You know as I’m writing to you my stance as a white 43 year old Englishman who only knows you through your work. But I’m scared this woman is going to report us to Prevent or worse".
You can fake your voice and face, but your eyes are much harder.
Watching the clip itself, the way Max paced his sentences felt rehearsed. There's no way you befriend Capcom USA and NOT hear something. Frankly, making a video denying such a specific leak isn't very convincing.
There was a time when political correctness was not a thing. Maybe hard to imagine for the younger generation but we didn't get upset about everything. Shocking, I know.
Enter Cannon Fodder (1993, Sensible Software) with this tagline: "War has never been so much fun!"
Did you know it was actually built on a modified Sensible Soccer engine?
You command squads of up to six soldiers through 72 levels. The setting changes between jungles, deserts, and snowfields, with objectives of killing enemies (well, duh!), destroying buildings, and getting into vehicles like tanks and helicopters, using machine guns, grenades, and rockets.
The dark humour is present throughout, but not everyone got it - some criticised its "brutality" and supposed glorification of war and killing. I never understood that, since most action games involve blasting through enemies and killing the "bad guys".
It became one of Sensible Software's most successful games ever, with ratings in the very high 90% range and a crapload of awards.
Great graphics, epic soundtrack, and excellent gameplay - a near perfect game.
Mr. Beast proved that they don't want institutions or a foundational system on which to build civilization. He dug simple wells in water starved areas. The locals then proceeded to blame him personally because he wasn't coming back to maintain them.
its funny how many internet tough guys and old boomers who talk shit and insult people on the internet all the time think it's acceptable to hit for "running their mouth."
Oh yeah if you read any of the interviews in Korean, they care a lot of combat criticism from the first game more then any of the horny tweet. Like even said they were actively looking for combat mods and criticisms.
