@simonmlewis Losing a post does not equate to a drop in wage for a serving Principal. One of the perks of principalship. U can start off with a school of 10 teachers, run it into the ground, be left with one tchr and still retain allowance for 10 teachers.
@simonmlewis Actually more like 2500 posts compared to 0 posts. Now if the ptr had been left at 28:1 in primary, we would not have seen the shortage of primary teachers. This demand created the shortage of primary teachers.
@simonmlewis Can't agree Simon. You don't seem to get the point. The ptr was 19:1 in 2010 and is still 19:1 in 2024 i.e. no new classroom post created in 14 years. Primary 28:1 to 23:1 in same time creating over 1500 new classroom posts. That's the difference.
@simonmlewis It's a hell of a lot more than what was ever given to Post Primary. We still working off same pupil teacher ratio since the recession. Is it 5 ptr moves in primary???
@TUIunion As Education Minister, @NormaFoleyTD1 has not created one class teaching post at Post Primary. Yet over her time has created 2,500 class posts at primary. PP schools never got pupil teacher ratio of 18 to 1 restored. What an imbalance

We have a very exciting new initiative where we are going to invite students around the country to take part in a new schools’ folklore collection. This will follow in the footsteps of the ground-breaking schools’ folklore project.. (1/2)

@INTOnews One way to tackle would be raise the ptr back to 25 or 26 to one. Too many teaching posts generated in last few years. Pupils were no worse off when the ptr was 27:1. Today's pupils are worse off cause with so many posts the DEIS schools finding it hard to get teachers fill posts
@rtenews@astiunion 56 Principals out of almost 800 responded to the survey. Hardly call that a fair representation and @astiunion see this worthy of publication. @emma_okelly @TUIunion
@Veganspider @CatrionaGolden All candidates for Principalship go there with their eyes wide open. They all have experience of their own Principals duties and able to talk the talk at interview. It is one of life's choice whether to go for Principalship or not.
Speaking to someone who works in mental health today who said the stress people are under from money problems is at a level unseen before. 2 yrs of lockdown, job losses & constant rising cost of living. Not sure our Gov even realise the damage they're doing to their own people
