You know why it’s so hard for us to admit the truth about ourselves—that we’re all addicts? Because deep down, we don’t want to believe we’re that weak, that needy, that dependent. We like to think we’re in control. But addiction isn’t just about drugs or alcohol—it’s anything we run to, anything we can’t live without, anything we depend on to make life work. It could be success, approval, control, reputation, comfort. And the truth is—we’re all hooked on something. But until we admit it, we’ll never be free. Grace meets us, not at the top of our game, but at the bottom of our need.
A lesson I wish I learned earlier: You can get pretty damn far in life by just doing what you say you’re going to do. Be someone people can count on to show up and do the work. Reliability is the cheat code. Stop overcomplicating success. Show up, do the work, repeat. That’s it.
