Being part of a generation that was told “Wikipedia is not a source” makes it genuinely baffling to me that jobs are now telling people to just use ChatGPT for everything.
I was closing out tabs last night.
Guy #1: Wearing a tailored suit, bill was $200. Snapped his fingers for service. Tipped $0 on a $200 tab.
Guy #2: Covered in drywall dust, looked exhausted. He ordered one beer, stacked his own empty glass, wiped the table with a napkin, and left a $20 bill on a $8 tab.
He looked me in the eye and said, "I know it's a long shift, man. Get home safe."
People who work hard for their money respect people who work hard for their money.
That’s the truth.
y'all ever feel like your mouth is stupid but your mind is smart? like you’re intelligent but you can’t express it when you’re speaking? it’s so frustrating
Two school age kids: "Oh look at the big white puppy!"
Their mother: "Come here, let me explain something to you. That dog is a Service Dog. Whenever you see a dog in a store like this you can't distract it cause it's working."
Two kids: "What do you mean he's working?"
Mom: "He helps that girl. You know how at school your teacher tells you to be quite so you don't get distracted doing your work? It's the same thing with that dog. You can't distract him."
Two kids: "What does he help her with?"
Mom: "That's her business. Your business is to not distract him so he can work."
IF CHILDREN CAN UNDERSTAND SO CAN YOU.
Every day I get sicker & sicker of people who refuse to admit their errors & wrongs, refuse to try to change for the better, & refuse to listen period
No one wants to work anymore because the reward is gone. Half of us are living paycheck to paycheck, with no savings for retirement or a house. Two paychecks away from homelessness. This is not laziness, it is exhaustion.
Funny how a bank can charge you $35 for not having enough money…
but when they lose billions gambling on bad investments, they get a bailout funded by your taxes.
And then they raise your fees to recover
Having a good manager really changes your work ethic. You start doing your job better, coming to work early and happy. Some managers don’t realize how much their actions affect their employees’ performance.
This isn’t talked about enough: let’s normalize not being career-oriented. I don’t want to climb the corporate ladder. I don’t want to be a “boss babe.” I just want a job that allows me to live comfortably, love my people, and keep my stress low. Comfort and calm is success too.
