This is something I’ve been asked about a lot. As someone that has been in China for more than 3 years, I’m well placed to provide answers regarding the differences between EUW and China in League of Legends:
Toxicity and mentality:
This shocks nobody that EUW is by far the most toxic server in the world, more often than not offenders do not get punished and will find a way to grief games regardless of countermeasures installed by Riot.
In China (particularly the Super Server) the punishments have 0 tolerance policy as it is considered a “serious” server. You’re being toxic in chat? Banned. You’re inting? Banned. You’re trying to FF too much? Banned. You’re flooding chat with nonsense? Banned. You’re too passive in the game? ( @noway4u_sir literally got banned at some point for being 0/0/0 on Malzahar and if you know anything about him you’d know he would never grief a game on purpose) Banned.
So in insight nobody trolls here regardless of what’s happening in the game. Someone is trolling? Everyone shuts up and plays.
Account:
EUW: sign up and play
China: Tied to your QQ/Chinese phone number. However your account will have a toxicity score (your Wegame account which is the client used to launch League on) and you require a certain amount of points to be eligible for the SS.
Smurfing, Boosting:
EUW: Not tolerant at all on smurfing and boosting, Riot has been actively banning and punishing such cases. They’ve installed countermeasures against offenders.
China: Smurfing and boosting is way too common, Streamers literally get paid live to play on their donator’s account… non ironically. On Ionia wintrading is also a fairly common occurrence in higher brackets.
Super server however has almost no wintraders and “smurfing” is very uncommon since every player is Diamond 2+
LP Gains:
EUW: Rank 1 is 5K LP+
China Ionia (the server has x5 the amount of ranked players of EUW): Rank 1 is 2400 LP, Rank 2 is 2000 LP, Rank 10 is 1900 LP.
China Super Server: Rank 1 is 1600 LP.
Aegis is way less common since there are a lot more players and they adopt the older system.
Gameplay:
I find China so much more fun to play on. This is my own opinion of course as a Player however I feel like every game is a movie, players follow instantly, they’re as aggressive as you are and they truly play to make a difference right from the start.
Differences:
Client does not lag in China, they have their own gacha mechanics, special chromas (For instance 1 skin can have 4 different custom skin based on their chromas), tools that are directly part of the client right from champ select such as banrate stats, most popular builds on your champion right now that you can directly import in your client, players info, their own report tool, etc etc…
Oh and you’re given 300k Blue Essence and 300k RP on the super server, and each week you can get 10k RP based on your wins of the week (10 wins+)
Keep in mind 10k Rp in china = 1K RP in europe roughly
Yeah… that’s it.
