This readable always breaks me because it shows how much faith the Schwanenritters had in Anfortas. Despite the impossible situation and distrust towards Khaenri'ahns, they follow his command and believe that he will somehow fix it, even if they are no longer around to see it

It’s time to explore Sumeru please, it’s been years. Let’s do the Aranara quest, listen to their tales about Nara Varuna. Let’s meet the Pari, learn about the masked swordsman. Let’s visit the desert, the Ruin Golems, learn about the Schwanenritter, the heroes of Dahri I BEG 🫩

And while we’re at it, let’s revisit Natlan. Even someone like Guthred literally used himself as a test subject and sacrificed himself to save others. Zephaniah and Irizar fought alongside the Children of Echoes, stayed behind to hold the Abyss back while the tribe escaped. They EVEN deliberately allowed themselves to be remembered as villains so the tribe would remain vigilant against the Abyss

And mind you, these were Khaenri’ahns who were themselves victims of the Cataclysm, who had just lost EVERYTHING they ever knew, and in many cases faced immense prejudice simply for being Khaenri’ahns despite having nothing to do with Irmin or the Sinners, they still chose to fight on the front lines.

You can argue that Khaenri’ah’s leadership, institutions and ideological trajectory bear responsibility for what happened and sure, I’ll call it reasonable. But blaming ALL, and ordinary citizens 500 years later for decisions they didn’t make is PRECISELY the prejudice the story keeps showing us.

But sure, none of them cared I guess.
