Nope, nope, definitivamente no. This just won't do. Not at all. And anyone attempting to minimize the genuine outrage & anger this misstep has garnered (not only in me but in so many others) you need to step back, stop talking, actively listen, and learn PUNTO
@LinkofSunshine@EmiliaDecaudin nah that bridge was burned after claire. she's been endorsing against a ton of nyc dsa candidates just to be spiteful since then
I'm feeling pretty good about our NJ-8 polling after seeing these results (we had Menendez at 42% and Ali at 27% back in April). Given Menendez's 7 to 1 $ advantage, makes sense that he'd grab the lion's share of undecideds while Ali keeps his already-decided supporters.
@TheLastFarm@ltothewang@Gonzalez4NY tech action isn’t a “faction”, it’s a working group chartered by and responsible to the chapter as a whole. happy to chat anytime about nyc dsa since it seems like you don’t really understand it!
This is a moment when we need fighters representing us in congress. I want to tell you about someone who has the soul of a fighter.
I have known @EspaillatNY for my entire career in politics. We began as adversaries, running against each other for State Senate in 2010 (he won). So I can say with some authority that he is one of the fiercest competitors I have ever encountered.
Adriano doesn't just fight hard in campaigns. It’s how he’s led in congress. When there was growing evidence of Trump’s corruption in his first term, Adriano was one of just six brave congressmembers who stood up to sponsor articles of impeachment in Nov., 2017. As the abuses of ICE were mounting in 2018, Adriano was one of just 9 members who sponsored a bill to abolish the agency, years before that became a politically safe position for a Democrat to hold. (this is not surprising considering he is the first formerly undocumented immigrant elected to congress). He was one of the first to sponsor Medicare for All legislation. I could go on and on.
You might think that a member of congress who is so active in DC is less active in their district. But the opposite is true for Adriano. I am constantly amazed at the pace of in-person events he keeps up in Upper Manhattan and the Bronx, even far outside of election season. And he uses his influence in Washington to deliver for the district on a scale that few lawmakers can match—including helping to secure $ billions for extension of the 2nd Ave subway up to East Harlem, $200 M+ to revitalize the Kingsbridge Armory, etc etc.
Adriano and I eventually became allies and friends after our intense 2010 State Senate campaign. He has wholeheartedly welcomed me into his familia dominicana. If I am ever facing a challenge, political or personal, he is often the first to call to express genuine concern. When he has supported me in my own campaigns he has consistently gone far beyond the “paper endorsements” that are so common in our business. He is someone who values relationships and doesn't treat them as a one-way street.
Adriano does nothing halfway—whether advocating for his district, rooting for his beloved Yankees and Tigres de Licey (if you know you know) or campaigning to win the support of his constituents in a tough race. I am proud to be supporting him in this election, so that this fighter can continue representing my neighbors and me in congress.
(After she left Platner, McDonald joined the campaign of Jordan Wood, who is running to replace Rep. Jared Golden in Maine's 2nd Congressional District)
This story reflects so badly on Genevieve McDonald's integrity, character and professionalism. She made a stupid decision to publicly jump ship when she misread the moment, rejected an NDA, then vindictively leaked confidential marriage info when it could only help Republicans.
Congressman @EspaillatNY has delivered real results to improve the lives of New York families. I’m proud to support my friend, and know he’ll continue putting New Yorkers first and being a leading voice for our communities in Congress.
