.@ClaireHanna: "Last week, in a very high profile case, the murder of Natalie McNally, the judge.. talked about a frenzied knife attack, he talked about wounds so bad the cause of death was unable to to be determined. There were no riots over the perpetrator of that brutal crime"
This Arsenal employee was fired for speaking out against Israel's genocide in Gaza – after 22 years with the club.
“It was a pile-on, a calculated and choreographed attack on me. All over me speaking out against apartheid, genocide, illegal occupation, oppression."
1 in 20 Catholic families were burned out of their homes in Belfast in 1969.
As one scholar put it, at the time it was "the largest forced population movement in Western Europe since the Second World War."
The planet's most fanatical Israel loyalists now own and control (or are about to) Paramount, CBS, TikTok, Warner Brothers, CNN: all acquired in the last two years by Netanyahu's close friend, Larry Ellison, right as public support for Israel in the US and the west collapses:
When Tom Barrack and the State Dpt are directly involved in signing over Syria's oil and gas to US corporation Chevron, after the CIA spent over $1bn to topple the Syrian govt (their largest operation in history) — it makes it very hard to argue that this wasn't about resources.
Absolutely wild how right-wing commentators and politicians are just completely ignoring the attempted pogrom in Belfast.
Families with kids rescued from homes set on fire.
And these same people who smear peaceful protests against genocide as hate marches say NOTHING
Always amazes me how the US can start an unprovoked war of aggression on the other side of the planet and then claim it is "launching self-defense strikes" there.
These military forces are nowhere near the United States. The Iranian government says the Apache helicopter that was shot down "was not flying over international waters," but even if it was, it's absurd to claim "self-defense" against a country that has been defending itself in a war you started.
These freaks really do operate from the premise that the entire planet is their property, and that any failure to respect its property rights shall therefore be viewed as an act of aggression.
I mean, just look at who's making this statement. US "Central Command" is the unified combatant command responsible for military operations in the middle east. The US military has separate unified combatant commands for every part of the globe:
• Central Command (CENTCOM) for the middle east.
• Africa Command (AFRICOM) for Africa.
• Indo-Pacific Command (INDOPACOM) for Asia, the Pacific islands, Australia and Antarctica.
• European Command (EUCOM) for Europe.
• Southern Command (SOUTHCOM) for South America.
• Northern Command (NORTHCOM) for North America.
No other country on earth does this. No other military power is segmented into areas of responsibility spanning every continent on earth. This is because normal military forces are used to defend the actual, official country they belong to, whereas the US military is used to dominate the entire planet.
And in that sense it's actually entirely reasonable that the US "Department of Defense" changed its name to the Department of War. The US military is never used to defend the actual, official country of the United States of America; it is only ever used to prop up the globe-spanning imperial power structure it commands.
This is not normal. It is a freakish aberration without historical precedent. The world cannot know peace until the US empire is dismantled.
This is the Israeli military justification for attacking a Lebanese army patrol inside Leb territory - ‘the area is an active combat zone, and movement in the area requires coordination with the IDF’ The Israeli military is demanding Leb troops asks its permission to move around its own country 🧵
The publics of western democracies have an unfavourable view of Israel, most at 70% or more.
Yet, in these same "democracies", such as the UK, the vast majority of politicians actively support aiding Israel's continuing genocidal slaughter in Gaza.
The Jewish activist Tony Greenstein, whose opposition to the Gaza genocide will see him on trial in August for "supporting terrorism", is now being hounded – like other prominent Palestine solidarity activists – with a freeze on his bank accounts.
This is being directed by the government through the National Crime Agency.
Santander are the latest culprits to engage in what Greenstein calls "financial terrorism", after similar bank freezes from Nationwide, HSBC and First Direct.
One of the accounts frozen by Santander held money raised to help a Palestinian children's centre in Jenin.
As Greenstien notes, Jenin's children "suffer enough at the hands of the terrorist IDF without facing the terrorism of the British state acting via its banking system".

Words matter: "Ethnic cleansing" is a term first used by perpetrators to downplay genocidal acts, and it’s not recognized as a crime in international law. Using this language can obscure atrocities that often meet the threshold for genocide or crimes against humanity. Instead, let’s call these acts by their rightful names—forced displacement, murder, rape—and confront the gravity of these crimes. Take a step toward genocide prevention: Refrain from using the term "ethnic cleansing." 🧵
1. The U.K. Government should reverse its ban on Cenk Uygur from speaking at Oxford. I’ve followed Cenk for sometime. He is an influential American critic of Israel’s war on Gaza. He’s also a strong voice calling out antisemitism. To try to paint @cenkuygur as an extremist is wrong and a serious infringement of free speech.

Israeli airstrikes hit near Jabel Amel hospital in Tyre, southern Lebanon causing extensive damage to the hospital which is still crowded with people including women and children. There’s widespread damage outside too. The Israeli military has warned it will hit the southern suburbs of Beirut too, sparking a panicked exodus
The most dangerous thing about antisemitic conspiracy theory in a conversation about genuine imperialism is not only that it's morally wrong.
It is that it is strategically catastrophic for the people it claims to be defending.
When the explanation for Palestinian suffering is "Jewish power" rather than American strategic interest, you have just told every Palestinian solidarity movement to organize against the wrong target.
You have turned a winnable political argument: end U.S. military aid, enforce international law, apply the same standards to Israeli conduct that are applied to other U.S. allies, into an unwinnable ethnic confrontation.
You have alienated every potential Jewish ally, of whom there are many, who oppose the occupation on their own moral and political grounds.
You have handed the Israeli regime exactly the framing it needs to convert a political critique into an accusation of bigotry, which it then uses to shut down every legitimate conversation.
The conspiracy theory does not help Palestinians.
It protects the system that harms them by making the system's critics look like bigots.
Whether that's the intent or not, that's the function.
The Palestinian movement has always known this.
Their most serious thinkers, Edward Said, Rashid Khalidi, analyzed Israeli policy through colonialism, imperial power, and U.S. strategic backing.
Not as an ethnic conspiracy.
Because they were trying to win.
Not just to be angry.

Watch | Orthodox rabbis in New York reject Israel’s actions and denounce the sale of occupied Palestinian land
Orthodox rabbis gathered in Midtown Manhattan to declare that Israel does not speak for Judaism, as activists protested an event promoting the sale of land stolen from Palestinians in the occupied territories.
Rabbi Naftuli Flohr of Neturei Karta International said Jewish religious teachings condemn the crimes committed against Palestinians, stressing that Judaism should not be used to justify occupation, dispossession, or the seizure of Palestinian land.
The demonstration brought together Neturei Karta, Pal-Awda, and other solidarity groups opposing the marketing and sale of occupied Palestinian property.
