Some ancient wisdom on societal debates about religion and ethics: “There is no need for harshness: worship cannot be forced; it is something to be achieved by talk rather, so that there is free will in it. If the reasoning is sound, let them argue it! We are ready to listen. 1/2
Choosing love and acceptance comes with a price but I would rather be excluded for who I include than included for who I exclude.

Sabbath is an act of protest and defiance - we are no longer slaves. We have choice. We have freedom. We have the power to say no to the demand of relentless burden. You can say no to your work and your worry.
Rest is not just about recovery or replenishment. It’s about ceasing, releasing and increasing. Ceasing what you’re doing, releasing what you are concerned about and increasing your intimacy with God.
Rest is not reward for your labour. It’s the foundation of your labour.
We don’t work for rest, we work from rest (Sabbath was the first day of the week not the last).
Resting in God is the ultimate form of trusting in God because in rest we are the most vulnerable. In fact, the deeper the rest the greater the vulnerability (think deep sleep).
Recognizing who we are responsible to inspires us to embrace the challenge of accepting what we are responsible for.

Your calling always exceeds your capacity but God grows your capacity through the pursuit of your calling.
Don’t let your lack of capacity keep you from embracing the call. If you are willing, He will make you able.

Today is all we really have.
