@iainlee I think it was inevitable, the terrible bit happened many years ago when large regional regions were allowed.
This gives an opportunity for community radio, with some relaxation of rules proposed to help make them more viable.
@imalexwatson@matt I’d love to think they’d go to this length, but I very much doubt it, especially considering they still have issues with regional frequency AF codes on the now GHR… in places it switches between Hits and GHR as the AF is still using former SAM fm AF lists!
@simonhardwick My understanding was that the normal issues with mobile networks are mitigated with the emergency broadcast - it’s a one to many push and all devices within that cell receive the message. But it does rely on the cell having power and to be functional, which I guess is your point?
@ruskin147@Google I think others have said it - BBC is moving like other content providers/broadcasters in disaggregation of content - making it available only on iPlayer or Sounds…
@Kerijonesradio It seems quite hit and miss. They have the tech and do use it, split ids etc. I’ve not heard it used for split links though, I get the feeling that would be many steps too far for them 🤣
