When one promised date passes, another magically appears. No amount of aspirational fantasy will mask their utter failure.

- In 1974 the Provisional IRA produced a poster predicting that this year would be “the year of victory”.

- In 1998 after the Belfast Agreement was signed Sinn Fein briefed the Irish media that it would lead to a united Ireland within 15 years;

- Gerry Adams in 2011 predicted that Northern Ireland would have left the Union by 2016.

- In August 2021, Gerry's crystal ball must have shown a different date, and 2016 became 2024.

- In May 2022, Mary Lou McDonald called for a border poll by 2027, but by July 2022, this had shifted to 2030.

- In February 2024, Michelle O’Neill again moved the goalposts, calling for a border poll by 2034.
