Petrol pump owners claim that ethanol’s hygroscopic nature or affinity towards water is leading to contamination of their E20 stock during monsoons and in coastal areas since the existing underground storage tanks were designed for conventional petrol, not higher ethanol blends. Three petrol pump owners shared their concerns over the roll out of E20 with 'The Hindu' speaking on condition of anonymity, as oil marketing companies have instructed them not to speak publicly on the issue.

@pradip103 How the dependence on oil ll reduce as there is at least 20% mileage drop which means fuel ll be consumed more. And moreover India is also importing ethanol. So where is net saving??

@amitmalviya It's giving real life complications in vehicles, go in field and check, visit the atleast 5-10 two wheeler service centers and u ll get evidence. Other thing 80% petrol and 20% ethanol is being sold at even higher prices to the public.

@nitin_gadkari Why we have to pay toll at Ladhowal Ludhiana toll plaza(India's one of the highest paid) when avg waiting time is 30 mins and on weekends 1-2 hrs, last week there was 10 hr jam at this toll. It's just on the sutluj river bridge, it's totally technical non feasible
