@DamianCollins I recently emailed to you for help about a family visa issue for a Gurkha in your constituency. You replied quickly and your intervention made a huge difference. I believe you’re a positive force for Folkestone and Hythe; I wish you all the best.
Thanks to @Foxy2Para and @ChrisB8940 for the invitation. A brilliantly run course producing robust future paratroopers. Strong effort from the 2RGR Bhaiharu ani Gurujiharu - syabash sabai manche! #Gurkha#RGR#AAPPS
My final stretcher today, so we did 2 💪🏼. I’m gutted to be leaving all this behind. 11/76 failed to finish with the stretcher.
72 will go Forward to Mill!
Elements of @16AirAssltBCT were also invited to watch and see how their units are getting on 💪🏼
@Mr_Andrew_Fox It’s what I inferred from your post - that the problem is less significant than in wider society. I agree with the sentiment that veterans aren’t victims, however many SP & veterans do require specific support as a direct result of their service - this shouldn’t be downplayed IMO
@Mr_Andrew_Fox No specific screening, but anyone already showing signs of MH issues as a result of, for example, childhood trauma, would be filtered out before joining. It’s too simplistic to say that the suicide rate is the same for veterans as the rest of society, therefore there’s no issue.
@Mr_Andrew_Fox MH issues are a bar to mil service. The suicide rates for serving personnel & veterans are high when you consider that they were assessed as healthy at the start of their careers. Your use of the 0.2% statistic is damaging, as it implies no link between combat stress & poor MH.
@CharERobertson @SarahAthertonMP I would hope that senior figures will welcome the report. I believe the overwhelming majority now realise this behaviour is completely unacceptable, but still more to be done.
French police dealing with protesters in Paris - difficult job, particularly with the world watching. Still, they seem poorly trained and overly violent. #Paris#Police
