Here's the 4th and final picture in a series that I have ended up calling #Tamar and #Tavy Postcards - a view up the River Tavy towards Lopwell Dam. It’s been fun playing with this #ink over #watercolours approach, but a challenge to stop my 0.05mm pen from getting clogged up!
I'm writing entries on my blog again:

I've returned to the lower reaches of the River #Tamar for today's morning #art practice and this #ink on #watercolour sketch of mudflats and channels near Cargreen at low tide...
I'm really enjoying doing these postcard-sized, #ink over #watercolour sketches during my morning #art practice. It's a very satisfying process. Today I've had a go at a view from Blaxton Wood near Lopwell Dam across the River #Tavy towards the village where of #BereFerrers
This morning's #art practice produced this postcard-sized #watercolour and #ink sketch of a view of the #Tamar Estuary from above Cargreen in southeast #Cornwall from a photo I took in April. It will probably be the first in a short 'Landulph and Cargreen' or 'Tamar Views' series
While out on my long run this morning I took a few photos, including a bunch of accidental ones, presumably as I was taking my phone out or putting it away. I quite like the blurry effect and the disorienting alignment of the horizon...
New longest run since my MCL injury in August 2024 - 17 miles from Princetown to Plymouth in a little over 3 hours - trying to prepare for the Ham & Lyme Ultra (32 miles) on 4th July. At this rate I make even get to the point where it's not completely foolhardy to give it a go...
Here's a third #Norfolk Postcard #watercolour sketch - a view of tree and hedge-lined #fields with splashes of colour from oil-seed rape and #wildflowers. I wasn't happy with the wildflowers as I painted that part but now it's complete I think they're just about okay...
For my #art practice this morning I've had another play with my #watercolour first, #ink second approach and created this postcard-sized picture of #BrancasterStaithe in #Norfolk. It seems like I'm underway with a new series of paintings which I will call 'Norfolk Postcards'!
I flipped my approach for this postcard-sized picture of #WellsnexttheSea in #Norfolk, laying down most of the #watercolour first and scribbling the #ink over the top. I intended to be sparing with details, but the more I added, the happier I became with the result.
I'm back home from a week in north #Norfolk, but that doesn't mean that my #art has to leave the area behind too. Here's a quick #ink and #watercolour picture I just did of some of the beach huts on the beach at #Wells-next-the-Sea...
I got to 14 miles this morning, but boy was it hard work, and I'm feeling it now. Somehow I'm supposed to do 17 miles next weekend, then 21 miles the following week as I try to get myself ready for the Ham & Lyme ultra in early July. I'm not convinced it's going to happen...
I'm just returning home from a wonderful holiday in #BrancasterStaithe in #Norfolk. Here's the 'thank you' #ink and #watercolour#painting of our accommodation I left behind for the owner. Apparently this one is going to be framed and put on display for future guests to enjoy!
Two more miniature #Norfolk#ink and #watercolour#landscape pictures - one painted yesterday, one today. I seem to like views with strong horizontal lines!
Watching the #sunset over the reed-beds yesterday gave me an idea to try. Here's the result, a tiny (~2cm x 5cm) #ink and #watercolour sketch. I'm really pleased with how it has turned out and that I was patient enough to let the background dry before adding the #reeds!
#Norfolk
Inspired by a visit to a wonderful exhibition of #wildlife#art today I just had a quick play to produce this mini 4cm square #ink and #watercolour picture of a pair of #goldfinches.
What better way to start the day than with a quick bit of sketchbook #art?
So here's an #ink and #watercolour view looking east towards #BrancasterStaithe, #Norfolk.
I'm pleased with how this one has come out...
Possibly the first of a North Norfolk Coast series... I've just done this 5cm square miniature watercolour painting of Burnham Overy Staithe Windmill. It should probably have less foreground and more sky...

This afternoon's walk - 6.2 miles from Burnham Overy Staithe taking in Gun Hill and Burnham Overy Town. After an 11 mile run this morning my legs are now officially tired!
