@PaulDJStepOne@AM76Design I’ve not heard that one for well over 30 years!Always remember that blend of Chuck D and The Pasadenas! There were loads of interesting bootlegs doing the rounds back then mostly knocked up on 4 track portastudios. Do you remember that Richie Rich’s Scam 12?
@PaulDJStepOne@AM76Design I think a lot of it can be traced back to Double D & Steinski’s ‘Lessons’. Was having a similar convo the other day about how Coldcut’s ‘Say Kids’ led to a load of those cut and paste records coming out and creeping into regular chart records.
@PaulDJStepOne Those 2 RPM 12s were pretty decent, and that Jaz Hip Jap comp had some good moments. Also DJ Krush's Strictly Turntablized had some joints.
@RandomRan__ @djmk Has it not occurred to you there was a reason Nas was able to have that era's elite producers fighting to get a spot on his debut. After that BBQ verse, the talk was this kid was the second coming of Rakim!
@DJSarahLove Been saying this! Rappers are scared to jump on a beat over 90bpm these days. Don’t get me wrong, I like a lot of slow stuff but still, I’m not gonna be playing it out!
@FARMABEATS @JazzT71 Loads I could mention but @oliversuddenuk is definitely a contender. Dude is a living ambassador for hip hop, does so much for the scene and is totally humble about it.
