Safeguarding the world’s largest land mammal migration takes collaboration at every level: researchers, rangers, conservationist, researchers, communities and government partners.
Across the Badingilo-Boma landscape, teams work together to help support the future of the #GreatNileMigration.

After several years, great to meet @KikaMusa & Brice Dejougoue from @IHRDAfrica .Not only reminiscing of times in Zimbabwe but having informative discussion on human rights& law in the AU and regional economic commissions. The rights-angle in integration should not be forgotten.
Amazing to wake up on the island of Aphrodite and yet this is a business trip! Thanks for the invite to join important discussions on Africa and the Middle East @CY2026EU !
A proud moment for conservation in Zimbabwe. 🦏
The return of critically endangered black rhino to Matusadona National Park after more than a decade is a powerful example of what can be achieved through strong partnerships, long-term commitment, and shared vision.
The 🇪🇺EU is proud to support this landmark translocation alongside conservation partners, helping to protect biodiversity, restore ecosystems, and secure a future for one of Africa’s most iconic species.

A striking account of the Russian fascist army from Said Ismagilov, the Grand Mufti of Ukraine, who has been fighting for Ukraine for the past three years:
"This society is a swarm of locusts. Their goal is to keep moving forward at any cost, seizing new territory. Every day in Vovchansk they advance in small groups of three to five men, climbing over the bodies of those who attacked the same position just hours earlier. There is no logic, no reason, no success — they simply pile up bodies against us.
The only difference between this and the meat-grinder tactics of Soviet Marshal Zhukov is that now they attack in smaller groups, not to capture kilometers, but to seize a single position of just a few square meters. Day after day, methodically, wave after wave. If they lose a position, they retreat — if anyone is still alive to retreat.
But they do so with a kind of mad persistence. The individual dissolves into the swarm, where the deaths of a few do not even register. I cannot explain why they keep coming, even knowing that we will kill them.
My philosophical education does not allow me to view this routine through the eyes of a mathematician, simply counting: minus one, minus five, minus forty. My philosophical and theological background pushes me to understand why this conditional Homo erectus — because I cannot honestly call him Homo sapiens when I see no rationality in his actions — climbs over the corpses of his own swarm toward certain death, through ruins that resemble a Martian landscape.
For what purpose? What motivates them? What do they hope to achieve?
When I spoke with Russian prisoners of war, every one of them said they wanted money from Putin's regime to improve their financial situation. Not one mentioned ideology, belief in higher values, or some noble cause. Only loans, debts, mortgages, poverty, and the need to raise children.
You came to kill our children so you could raise your own? Silence. Eyes lowered. But that is the reality. They would calmly kill us and our children, take our homes, sleep in our beds, even wear our clothes. They do not see this as disgusting or wrong. Their authorities gave them permission, so everything is acceptable. Without a second thought, they would wear your clothes and eat from your plate because their tsar and their church blessed it.
They come to take and consume our resources, to settle our land with themselves. While the leaders of the swarm try to explain why they attack and kill us, those at the bottom simply want to enrich themselves through killing and looting.
The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) offered an interesting observation about human greed and foolishness: 'The Hour will not come until the Euphrates uncovers a mountain of gold. People will fight over it, and out of every hundred, ninety-nine will die. Yet each one will think: perhaps I will be the one who survives.'
Watching them, I wonder whether each of them charges into battle believing that he will survive and become rich. But then our guys strike, and the statistics report:
Five more killed."
@hallaboutafrica@Jonathan660612 The SS migration has been proved the biggest by clear margin by @AfricanParks . it is a continuous movement across and around the plains. To be noted that the largest mammalian migration of the bats from central Africa to Kasanka in Zambia is also African https://t.co/u6IsfVvKx9
One of the planet’s greatest wildlife events is unfolding across eastern South Sudan.
@NatGeo has featured the Great Nile Migration in eastern South Sudan, highlighting one of conservation’s most remarkable and complex landscapes. It is shaped by wildlife, communities and movement.
