As much as it would be nice for everyone to get along, let’s lay the facts down because this kumbaya conversation only seems to appear when Mobstarrs retaliate or when people want our support.
Tygers are comfortable constantly dragging Ayra Starr because Tyla has never really checked that behaviour or publicly shown Ayra the same support Ayra has shown her. Since Water blew up, Tyla largely avoids talking about Ayra even when she publicly mentions other African female artists. Outside of events where they’re surrounded by other artists, you barely see anything.
Ayra, meanwhile, has publicly shown Tyla love from the beginning. When people were already trying to pit them against each other, Ayra collaborated with her and brought her onstage at Afrochella.
Then in March 2024, BBC Radio 1Xtra directly asked Ayra about the weird back-and-forth involving Tyla’s fans. Ayra immediately said Tyla was “my girl,” “homegirl” and “my G,” said the fan noise didn’t faze her and told people to support each other because African music was taking over and there was no time for all of that.

THAT is what publicly shutting down a rivalry looks like.
You cannot keep demanding kumbaya when the public support is this one-sided.
Go under Pop Crave’s Hot Body announcement and look at the replies. Tygers came out in large numbers specifically to insult Ayra.

Now go under a Tyla announcement and compare. You’ll probably find one or two crazy Mobstarrs because every fandom has them, but her posts are not routinely flooded with Mobstarrs attacking her the way Ayra’s posts get flooded by Tygers.
And now people are even creating fake Ayra Starr fan accounts to drag other famous female artists and provoke their fanbases into attacking Ayra.
But the SECOND Mobstarrs retaliate, suddenly it’s “Aren’t Tyla and Ayra friends? 🥺 Why can’t Tygers and Mobstarrs support each other? 🥺”
Please.
Where is all this concern for their “friendship” when Ayra is the one being dogpiled?
Don’t stay silent while she’s being dragged and suddenly become a peace activist when her fans defend her. Don’t only scold Mobstarrs and call that peace. Don’t come looking for Mobstarr support whenever it’s convenient after watching your fandom treat Ayra like a punching bag.
If you’re not going to speak up for her when she’s receiving hate, genuinely stay away from Ayra and stay out of Mobstarrs business.
