Praying for Christians in America to enter into this cultural moment with grace & compassion. Not pride. Not cynicism. Not antagonistic rhetoric or name calling. Humility. Patience. Love that leads to practical, Christ-honoring, Spirit-empowered action. https://t.co/VlWz01k2O5
DADS ON DUTY: After a violent week of fighting at a Louisiana high school, parents knew something had to change. So, a group of dads decided to show up not just for their kids - but for the whole student body - to help maintain a positive environment. @SteveHartmanCBS has more.
“As our time winds down, we all seek comfort in simple pleasures—companionship, everyday routines, the taste of good food, the warmth of sunlight on our faces. We become less interested in the rewards of achieving or accumulating & more interested in…simply being” @Atul_Gawande
“There is a strength, a power even, in understanding brokenness, because embracing our brokenness creates a need and desire for mercy, and perhaps a corresponding need to show mercy.” -Bryan Stevenson @eji_org
As a parent, I have to continually come back to this quote from Nate Wilson. It feels more important than ever in light of the dangers facing our kids.
We can trust that God’s plans and purposes for us are good, even when our circumstances are far from good.
God uses the particulars of our unique situation to shape us into people who, like Joseph in Genesis, can be a blessing to the world.
“I’m not saying we should deny every opportunity to serve or advance…My point is that our tendency is almost always in the direction of doing too much, especially if the activity or position feeds our (perpetually hungry) male egos.”
Some thoughts on the vocation of fatherhood:
The world doesn’t need dads who are more stressed than they already are. It needs fathers who care for their families, not in heroic ways, but in common, everyday ways. https://t.co/YVuXPUJeWf
@psdrams Couldn’t be more proud of these two incredible young ladies! The kindness, hard work, and character that they demonstrate on a daily basis is truly exceptional!
Saying "I was wrong" isn't an admission of incompetence.
It's a sign that you have the humility to recognize your mistakes and the integrity to learn from them.
The faster you are to acknowledge when you’re wrong, the faster you can move toward being right.

@fastcrayon This will be my third consecutive year as an assistant principal and AP Calculus teacher. There will definitely be some unique challenges this year, but I’m grateful for the dual perspective I get from these two roles.
“If we want to pursue God in our vocations, we need to immerse ourselves in rituals and rhythms and practices whereby the love of God seeps into our very character and is woven into not just how we think but who we are.” @james_ka_smith#YouAreWhatYouLove
