É o império do pensamento positivo.
Takeaways
1. Don’t sign on to “do therapy” without understanding the problem therapy is supposed to address
2. The way a referral is made is information—even if the person making the referral doesn’t know it
From: Glen Gabbard, Long-Term Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, 3rd Edition
Psychiatrist THOMAS SZASZ: “we don’t have an epidemic of mental illness, we have an epidemic of psychiatry.”
“It’s not science. Psychiatry is politics and economics. Behavior control is not science nor medicine.”
“It’s all a disease. No free will, it’s all chemicals. No self-discipline. No self-control.”
“The chemical imbalance meshes very well with the idea that you simply give a drug which restores balance. It’s a story. A mythology. A fable.”
“This is not psychiatry. It’s a psychiatrization of the whole culture.”
Diagnosis is just a starting point. The purpose of therapy is to increase our capacity for meaningful change. Most of that change will happen outside the consultation room. At the highest level of this work, we don’t change our clients at all because y’all will do that yourselves
“words are the essential tool of mental treatment. A layman… will feel that he is being asked to believe in magic. And he will not be so very wrong, for the words which we use in our everyday speech are nothing other than watered-down magic.”
-Freud
“Freud tells us that the depression often accompanying melancholia is extremely dangerous….Here, we must add, suicide may not merely be physical; it may also be a psychical erasure of one’s identity—racial, sexual, or gender identity, for example.”

@TRemerand "[...] Or toute parole appelle réponse.
“Nihilism as psychological state has yet a final form. Given these two insights, that becoming aims at no goal and that underneath all becoming there is no grand unity in which the individual could submerge completely as in an element of supreme value, one escape remains:
