@Alan_Couzens Age 73, Garmin cycling V02 max of 44, I’ve developed a learning mindset to leverage fitness and health science, Buddhism & western psychology, devices and their metrics and decades of experience in order to keep as active as possible for as long as possible while keeping it fun.
I’m currently measuring and managing 3 types of #stress: physical, emotional, and mental. While IRL these 3 constructs appear to overlap and impact each other IRT how I experience them they currently offer enough explanatory power to be useful to me in guiding workouts.
I don’t have enough data yet to determine to what extent any of the #HRV metrics I’m collecting align with how I perform on any given day. But there are other impactful and variables to control, including hydration/electrolytes, heat acclimation and life stress.
After my #Garmin load-based metrics became useless, I switched to #TrainingPeaks, to which I’d been adding workouts but not using its metrics. I revised my spreadsheet to use #TSS to guide my plans and TSS-based metrics seem to align better with how I feel than Garmin’s Load.
I had been using Garmin Load to guide my workout planning, but Garmin metrics became useless a few weeks ago when I used the #Garmin Edge for a #Zwift indoor workout. The problem appears to be due to Edge uses 1 FTP and Zwift another.
I bike (indoors and outdoors) and run (outdoors) and have a goal to do a century ride this year. I use #TSS as a guide to plan my weekly stress load and workouts.
In May 2022, I added Oura’s metric on resting heart rate and #HRV4Training HRV with #Oura’s data. In June, I added morning HRV readings from HRV4Training with a #Garmin HRM Pro and #AppleWatch. In July, I added metrics from #KubiosHRV and EliteHRV using the Garmin HRM Pro.
At the beginning of 2022, I began entering data into a spreadsheet and started with Garmin’s Body Battery and Sleep Score and Oura’s Sleep Score and HRV. I took the scores first thing in the morning before I got out of bed. #garmin#oura
As for apps, I use Garmin Connect, Oura, Training Peaks, HRV4TRAINING, KubiosHRV, EliteHRV, https://t.co/jdhiWDyWU8, Apple Health, Strava, and the apps directly associated with the devices I use. #garmin#trainingpeaks#kubioshrv#EliteHRV#HRV4Training
I primarily use Garmin fitness devices and ecosystem, including a Fenix 6, Edge 530, HRM Pro, Tempe, and Tacx NEO 2T. I also use an Oura G3 ring, an Apple Watch Series 7, a Polar H9, and Core Body Temperature monitor. #garmin#garmin#oura#CORE#polar#tacx#longevity
Every day won't be great. You just need...
More good days than bad.
More good weeks than bad.
More good months than bad.
More good years than bad.
You just need to keep it trending up 📈
@Nick_Henderson@alizaslav@chrislhayes As we Vermonters say, there’s no bad weather, just bad clothing choices. Clearly, Bernie knows this. (Well, this isn’t actually something Vermonters say, it’s people from one of those Scandinavian countries say, probably Norway. But they are so right!)
