NEW: I have received a response from the Cabinet Secretary.
He has confirmed that 21 costings of Labourโs policies were produced by civil servants from HM Treasury and other relevant departments.
Contrary to Labour's claims he also confirmed that the letter from the Treasury Permanent Secretary made no reference to the Prime Minister.

@jonniegrieve I think the impact will be next to nothing in polling terms - itโs just not the sort of issue that cuts through, the defection of a good or bad unknown backbencher whoโs been around for about five minutes.

There will, surely, come a day when mainstream political parties realise that moving your party to the extremes to try to win votes just doesnโt work. All you do is legitimise the extremists whilst alienating your core vote. But it seems that today is not that day.
This comment is just so telling: You get a say once every half decade, and in between you are slaves to the state.
There was a time that English conservatism trumpeted the rights of the individual over the state. Clearly, those days are past.
