NEW: I have received a response from the Cabinet Secretary.

He has confirmed that 21 costings of Labour’s policies were produced by civil servants from HM Treasury and other relevant departments.

Contrary to Labour's claims he also confirmed that the letter from the Treasury Permanent Secretary made no reference to the Prime Minister.

There will, surely, come a day when mainstream political parties realise that moving your party to the extremes to try to win votes just doesn’t work. All you do is legitimise the extremists whilst alienating your core vote. But it seems that today is not that day.
