I used to believe that sharing the same hobbies was one of the most important parts of a relationship. Now, I think compatibility runs much deeper than that. What really matters is having similar values—how you show kindness, how you treat the people you love and even complete strangers, how you respond to anger, and how you navigate pain. You don't have to handle every situation in the exact same way, but you should understand each other's perspectives and agree on the kind of response those moments deserve. That kind of emotional alignment is far more valuable to me than having the same interests.
