@ScottishPower hugely disappointed with your customer service. Disempowered customer service agents and failure to respond to emails. As a small business owner, I would be bankrupt if I behaved like this.
@DrLizzieMills @UKCPA @DrGRedfeather @School_Pharmacy @karengunnell @dmuleicester#UKCPAchat and the bottom up. We often look to 'leaders' and managers to find the solutions to these problems, but responsibility lies with us all. If we accept stressful workplaces, how can we be critical of others?
@UKCPA @DrGRedfeather @School_Pharmacy @DrLizzieMills @karengunnell @dmuleicester 2/2. #ukcpachat. No matter what our role we have responsibility to speak up, speak out, and influence that way in which we work. Being stressed is normal in today's society, but it is not OK and it is not a weakness.
@UKCPA @DrGRedfeather @School_Pharmacy @DrLizzieMills @karengunnell @dmuleicester 1/2 #ukcpachat. I think we also need to ask "what can we collectively do as employees, line managers and citizens" to address this issue. People have been suffering with stress for decades, and yet it still persists.
@DrLizzieMills @DrGRedfeather @UKCPA@School_Pharmacy @karengunnell @dmuleicester#ukcpachat. Certainly addressing our response to the stress is important, but often there can be an agenda of apportioning 'blame'. "take time off, you will be better soon". This can seriously affect an individuals self-worth. "it must be me who is at fault"
@kasuji_s @DrLizzieMills @DrGRedfeather @UKCPA@School_Pharmacy @karengunnell @dmuleicester#ukcpachat. Indeed, but often organisations perceive that time out will improve the situation: it can be a short term fix, but situation must be handled holistically will real changes.
@DrLizzieMills @DrGRedfeather @UKCPA@School_Pharmacy @karengunnell @dmuleicester That moment of realisation can be the crisis point that leads to complete breakdown
@DrLizzieMills @DrGRedfeather @UKCPA@School_Pharmacy @karengunnell @dmuleicester A5: Q3: #ukcpachat. From personal experience I know how disabling it can be to be acutely aware of the stress you are suffering and then coming to the realsiation that you cannot easily influence the processes that have resulted in that stress.
@UKCPA @DrGRedfeather @School_Pharmacy @DrLizzieMills @karengunnell @dmuleicester I guess our bodies are wired to learn from physical and environmental threats: pain, heat, hunger. etc. It is a simple matter of survival. So, does the body learn about, and respond to newer threats such as stress as readily?
@leeannelewis79@UKCPA @DrGRedfeather @School_Pharmacy @DrLizzieMills @karengunnell @dmuleicester A2: #ukcpachat. But who decides on the definition of hard? Is it measured in outcomes, processes, time, units of work? We seem to have a culture of 'hours spent' that defines who hard we have worked.
@KiranKChanna@UKCPA @DrGRedfeather @School_Pharmacy @DrLizzieMills @karengunnell @dmuleicester Q3: #ukcpachat. I find answering emails is done on autopilot and the soothing start to my day. The problem can be that I never get to the end of them. Don't tell anyone, but I always answer today's emails tomorrow. It's my personal rebellion.
@UKCPA @DrGRedfeather @School_Pharmacy @DrLizzieMills @karengunnell @dmuleicester A2. #ukcpachat. There is an irony that working in healthcare, we spend our time helping others with their health and wellbeing, sometimes at the detriment of our own. The system appears set up to create its own service-users.
@kasuji_s @UKCPA @DrGRedfeather @School_Pharmacy @DrLizzieMills @karengunnell @dmuleicester A2 #ukcpachat. Being accessible 24/7 doesn't help, be it emails on your phone, social media, etc.
@UKCPA @DrGRedfeather @School_Pharmacy @DrLizzieMills @karengunnell @dmuleicester A2 #ukcpachat. There is an obsession with metrics, how much, how many, what time. This all plays into an agenda where we appear to be objectified through quantification and output. We are subjected to this from an early age at school and it never goes away.
@DrLizzieMills @UKCPA @DrGRedfeather @School_Pharmacy @karengunnell @dmuleicester A1 #ukcpachat. I think that is the same with all of us. I have a an approach of visualising the day in the morning and trying to see what the 'forecast' is. If it is 'stormy' I know to take care of myself.
