I appreciate him quoting verses from the Torah in his recent comments about illegal activity in the West Bank by a minority of Israeli citizens. There is nothing contradictory about supporting Israel while also condemning illegal or criminal behaviour by some Israelis.

I stand with Huckabee, and I applaud his discernment, his faith, his words and his actions. I also condemn terrorism and violence of any kind, regardless of who commits it.

I’m saying this as someone who has stood with Jewish Australians and continues to do so. Supporting Israel doesn’t require abandoning our ability to reason, distinguish right from wrong, or apply the same moral standards consistently.

I honestly don’t understand why some people seem to think that condemning wrongdoing somehow means you don’t support Israel. Surely we can love and stand with a country while still expecting its citizens to obey the law and treating wrongdoing honestly and fairly.
