@MaryWBousted After saying to my headteacher that no I couldn't stay past 6pm, I was told I had to 'make a choice'. Unfortunately, the headteacher after her was no better. I made my choice and left teaching altogether
@HarleyShah My biggest problem with all of this is the presumption re: levels of grief. I was not in contact with my father so didn't want the time for him but then when wanted to grieve for a close family friend, this is not counted

@CensoredHead Wow! Had exactly the same with my bipolar father. He died in 2020. I had to cease contact too to protect my young children and my own mental health. Sending love.

@Mathew_Lynch44@TeacherTapp There are jobs out there for ex-teachers. Company I work for was specifically looking for an ex-teacher and on a much higher salary and more importantly, respect and work-life balance
