On National Specially Abled Pets Day, we're celebrating Cricket and all cats whose day-to-day lives are different and just as full of love and happiness!

When Cricket was rescued from an Alabama property, where he lived in cramped conditions with 90+ other cats, it was quickly apparent that he was unique. Alley Cat Allies covered the costs to rush him to a veterinary clinic, where he was diagnosed with carpal laxity. This condition affects his wrists, which have an excessive range of motion and, as such, bend outwards.

Treatment is possible with splinting, patience, and time, and we are going to explore all options to make sure Cricket has the happiest and most comfortable life. But right now, he's still your average kitten: he gets the zoomies (and he's FAST), he purrs constantly, and he adores being held.

HELP SAVE THE PROMISED CENTRAL MICROCHIP PORTAL: Can the Government guarantee that no pet owner, vet, warden or police officer will be charged for accessing microchip data through the new microchip central portal system that Defra mentions in their reply to this petition. Defra have backtracked on their plans saying the new single search lookup is going to be industry-led by a few databases who are looking at ‘commercial solutions’ ?

Microchipping is the law. The reunification system that makes it meaningful should be a public service — not a commercial product. We were promised that. We deserve that.

This petition for a Central Microchip Portal would close one of the biggest loopholes in #animalwelfare.

No enquiries for Madeline at all 😢 she’s still waiting for a home. We cover the whole of Scotland, can you please share?

Madeline is looking for a new home with someone who doesn’t live close to any main roads, or a train station! 🚂

She found a new home last year but really likes to wander and has managed to get on a train a couple of times now.

Thankfully the driver has kept her in his cab and taken her back to where she got on, however going forward and for her own safety, this can’t continue.

Madeline is 6 years old. She is an outdoor cat and likes to get outside.
She is fit and healthy with no issues.
Madeline is use to living alongside another cat however they tend to just ignore each other. She doesn’t have any experience with dogs.

A home with older kids would be okay.
Madeline is chipped and spayed.

We’d really like to find her a home away from any main roads and transport links, such as train stations or bus stations. Possibly a farm setting - we would highly consider this for her own happiness and safety.
