I started quarantine a straight A student who placed academics first, and while that is a good decision, what wasn’t as great, was forgetting to get to know others for who they are.
I wanted to share the very words that lifted the veil from my eyes. The ❤️behind the voice that showed me how disconnected I’d been from others. Chase, a 16 year old student of Puerto Rican and black descent. His personal story made me rethink my mindset.

Rather than get swept up in the stress and rush, I seek now to listen, and to understand their world because it may not seem like a big deal, but it can make all the difference to be able to see through different perspectives.
As a 17 year-old high school student, the pandemic has represented more than just a pause from a fast-paced life and virtual society. The pandemic has been a way to reconnect with people in a way that I never truly saw.
