I'm so glad I'm seeing more posts of people stating this. The Tobey Maguire films were actual Spiderman films facing actual Spiderman villains.

These films, while still good, are MCU films centered around the MCU storyline, and featuring Spiderman. Not the same.

People under the age of 30 have no point of reference to understand how revolutionary the first 2 Spiderman films were and still are. And Tobey's Spiderman told a true grounded origin story without being carried by the larger MCU storyline or avengers team ups.

Tobey's Spiderman is an origin story that is self contained in its own universe. No Avengers or other characters propping it up. It's great in its own right.

Tom's Spiderman owes so much if it's success to the established MCU, and that's not his fault, but it's true.

Has nothing to do with just nostalgia. Tom was introduced by the Avengers with no origin story of his own. His movies have gotten better, but Tobey is still GOAT'd.

@buck4orlife Younger Gen Z will resonate more with Tom Holland, and I get it. But as an older millennial in my late 30's, I feel about Tobey Maguire's Spiderman how you feel about Tom's.

It was revolutionary in a time where Super Hero films were not as mainstream as they are today.

Saying Raimi's films didn't feel like Spiderman is wild. It's literally an origin story that is self contained in its own universe. Holland's Spiderman is an extension of the Avengers and the established MCU. That doesn't make it bad, but not the same.

Finally someone with some sense. There is so much Tom Holland glazing going on right now. It's insane.

Brand New Day was Holland's best acting performance, No Way Home was the best modern Spiderman film, and Spiderman 2 remains the best Spiderman film ever made.

Tobey's portrayal nailed Peter Parker, and he did it without being boosted by other characters. For that, he'll always be the GOAT.

Tobey's spiderman was self contained in its own universe as an origin story and built from the ground up. Tom's spiderman came into an already established MCU where he was a side character that grew into his own story later on.

I respect Tom Holland and I think his spider man films have progressively gotten better. But Tobey is the clear winner.

@SportsRadioWIP I mean...are we overlooking that the defense has played together in the same system for years, and the offense just had their 2nd training camp practice in a new system with a new OC? Does anyone expect the offense to look like a finished product right now?

@_EagleTimes @InsideIggles I mean, we all love Moro. And he's been a huge success story. But this was always inevitable. Davis and Carter are the building blocks, and they absolutely should be.

Moro will have a great season, and then likely will get a well deserved big pay day elsewhere.
