Thanks to Not Just Bikes for adding their voice to the resistance against Bill 212.
“Decades of research has shown there is no solution to car traffic except viable alternatives to driving.”

Thousands of Ontario residents came together to send a message to @fordnation and @PrabSarkaria that bike lanes save lives, solve congestion and transport goods.
@PrabSarkaria Oh cool! We're using short clips to justify removing infrastructure? Neat! Here's a video of an empty Lake Shore Ave on a Saturday afternoon. Better rip it out!
(I didn't even use taxpayer money to make this one!)
It seems like @MayorOliviaChow is going to introduce some type of item that outlines the city's response to our local democracy being overridden. There must be firm resistance to Bill 212. If the province gets its way, no municipal decision is safe: transit, sidewalks, housing.
It's come up several times in this rezoning conversation, including this speaker, but Calgary (the City of Calgary) is NOT spending $87 billion on the climate strategy. Anyone who tells you that is outright lying to you. #yyc#yyccc#calgary
Until mid-November, the Bow River Pathway will be closed between the LRT Bridge and 9 St N.W. for Sunnyside Flood Barrier work. Please follow the detour signage and maps (link to attached) in the area #yycbike
For all pathway closures ⤵️

@CanadianPolling@338Canada A great example where FPTP voting doesn’t deliver what the majority of people would like. 👆
NS will get another PC gov even though most would like NDP/Lib/Green.
"Doug Ford says only 1.2% of Torontonians commute by bike. That's not true." Great work by @jackhauen explaining all the key data we need to know about cycling in Toronto - Thanks for citing my maps!

“peace officers the authority to ask for proof of age from riders to prevent misuse of the free-fare option for people 12 years old or younger.”
Kids under 18 can board a domestic flight in Canada without ID, but not transit.

@midtoad@CalgaryPolice The fine is $75
But the City understands operating a vehicle is expensive so there are two early payment discount options for cash strapped drivers.
Calgary Bylaw 26N96
The fact that the 401, 400, DVP, QEW, Gardiner (and many more) are regularly a bump-to-bumper standstill, and that none of them have bike lanes, should make it clear that bike lanes and bicycles are not the problem.

@paininc@jasmine_mian Yes this is the 311 fatigue I’m talking about.
Tickets being closed with no explanation or no demonstrated handoff to the responsible dept adds to the perception that the City isn’t listening.
Calgary seems overly dependent on 311 crowdsourcing issues from residents who are tired of 311’ing everything.
My suggestion is bylaw should be issued e-bikes and begin regular patrols of pathways and in the process they’ll discover where the problem areas are. 👍
I just had a good conversation with bylaw about speeding e-bikes & motorized scooters on pathways, which has been a concern some residents have raised with me.
If there are certain areas that are really bad, please report these to 311 because it helps inform bylaw of where to do enforcement blitzes
311's for speeding scooters/bikes are down this year compared to last.
