This is one of the many reasons I wear a helmet camera when I bike. Drivers in Toronto are out of control and emboldened by a provincial government that is actively dismantling safety and enforcement, and prioritizes drivers above all else. I'm glad they caught the guy.

As long as we keep treating automobile violence as an inevitable cost of doing business rather than a failure of public safety regulation, this will continue to happen. I really hope for recovery for all the families impacted by this careless and negligent act.

In Toronto, more people are killed and injured by vehicles than from violent crimes. Anyone who claims to be a champion of safety, but who isn't advocating for safer roads, is just fear mongering or dog whistling.

@Shaneequaypzc It's shared responsibility, for sure, but not equal responsibility. The driver of a 2000 kg vehicle is far more of a threat to their surroundings. This is why safe road design for all users, low speed limits, and enforcement are especially important for dense urban environments.
