@james_c_rocks Why we voted that way is actually irrelevant - a person's rationale for voting a certain way is not tested in the ballot box - the important point in a democracy is that one option received more votes than the other option in a binary ballot. That option must be implemented.
On current estimates, that means the parents of an Eton pupil are paying for their child’s education, saving the State £8000 pupil place, and effectively funding a place for another 1.5 students? Why do they attract such criticism for what is clearly a benefit to society as a whole?
@Elaineewald3@DeborahMeaden So where else are they, Elaine? We haven't deported 60,000 people, so they are still in the UK somewhere. That's the point; this is all just smoke and mirrors.
@TheYoungGlow@GBPolitcs@LBC Ok. If that’s the case, what are the specific health and safety grounds on which they (England flags) are banned as opposed to, say, Palestine flags or the Rainbow flag?
@KanekoaTheGreat Well, Reform could pretty much cut and paste that for their manifesto and the Left/europhiles cannot argue. These countries are in the ECHR but these laws prove things can be done.
This explains the state of Canada. The problem with looking at human rights at the individual level for every matter is that it ignores the wider human rights of the law abiding majority. People have a right not to be murdered by a paroled murderer. Perhaps you need to look a recidivism rates for extremely violent offenders?…
@AllisonPearson Not that I agree with any of these schemes but they should be the sole remit of the FCDO on behalf of the UK. Every other council and assembly is subordinate to that and not a single one of them should have a remit to give anything outside their boundary.
