They say it gets better in time, but time doesn’t tell you when. It just keeps moving forward while you’re begging it to slow down again.
Some mornings I wake up stronger, some nights I fall apart, some days I barely think of you, and some days you’re still everywhere in my heart.
I’ve learned that healing isn’t pretty. It doesn’t happen in a straight line. Sometimes I take ten steps forward, then lose my way and take back nine.
But I’m still here. And maybe that’s enough— to wake up, breathe, and keep going when everything feels too rough.
I don’t have to forget you to finally let you go. I can love what we once were and still choose a life you’ll never know.
Maybe one day your name won’t carry all this pain. Maybe memories will feel like memories instead of standing out in the rain.
And maybe “better in time” doesn’t mean I’ll never hurt again. Maybe it means the hurt gets quieter, until it no longer gets to win.
So I’ll give myself the time I never thought I’d have. I’ll pick up every broken piece and learn to love the person I have.
Because I’m not who I was when you walked away that night. I’m becoming someone stronger, someone learning how to be alright.
And someday, when I look back, I’ll realize what time was for— not erasing what happened, but teaching me I deserved so much more.
Today is a day just like any other day… a day that I miss you.
I miss your hugs. I miss waking up in the morning to your Sweetface, when you’d grab me, pull me close, hug me, and tell me how much you loved me.
I miss your sweet, warm hands holding me and telling me everything was going to be okay. I miss your general self. Just you being there. Your presence. Your voice. Your laugh. Your little mannerisms that used to drive me crazy but somehow became things I loved.
I miss our conversations about WWE. I miss us talking about random things that probably didn’t mean anything to anyone else but somehow meant everything to me. I miss our dinners and the meals we started cooking together. I miss standing in the kitchen with you. I miss those ordinary moments that I never thought I would one day wish I could have back.
I even miss waking up with your hair in my face in the morning. 😂 I miss being annoyed because you were taking up too much room. I miss hearing you move around. I miss knowing you were right there beside me.
I miss having someone to turn to when something happened during my day. I miss being able to look over and see you. I miss the comfort of knowing you were home. I miss the feeling of being yours and knowing you were mine.
I miss the little things most of all. The things that seemed so normal when we had them. The hugs. The kisses. The stupid arguments. The laughs. The food. The conversations. The quiet moments. The mornings. The nights. All of it.
Seven years is a lot of memories to carry, and sometimes I don’t know what to do with all of them. Some days I can keep myself busy and pretend I’m okay. And then something small will remind me of you, and suddenly I’m right back there missing you all over again.
I don’t just miss the big things. I miss you.
I miss the person I knew. I miss the person who made me feel safe. I miss the person who could make an ordinary day feel like home.
And I hate that I can’t just reach over and hug you anymore.
I miss you more than I know how to put into words. ❤️
