🚨Ex-Serbian President Vučić advises PM Rama not to resign, calling him "one of the greatest assets of Albania."
Vučić added: "Edi's mistake was believing, longer than me, that he could appease them. He lost time. And if he resigns now, it will be very difficult for him to win."
Over the last week, I have received outreach from Albanian community members who are worried about their families' safety.
I am calling on the Albanian government to deescalate the violent repression of protestors and respect Albanians’ freedom of expression.

ALBANIA | Protesters released from custody.
Applause outside Tirana's Mine Peza prison as the gate opens and a young man, arrested during the recent anti-government protests, walks out and is embraced by his family.
I was there today as relatives gathered outside the prison, waiting for family members to be released. Many were still waiting when I left.
Most had been arrested two or three days earlier, relatives told me, on suspicion of involvement in violence and property damage during the protests.
Courts have now lifted pre-trial detention for many of those arrested, although some have been placed under house arrest or are required to report regularly to the authorities.

@ediramaal You struggle to govern your own country, yet presume to lecture the world on who should be UN Secretary-General. Start with the basics: competent government and keeping minors and students safe from your own police.
@ediramaal@ediramaal, you praise diplomacy, bridging differences and serving humanity at the UN. Yet at home, students are protesting amid cases of corrupted officials and excessive and brutal police force. Why not apply those same principles in Albania? @grok 👀

🇦🇱 path to 🇪🇺 is focused on the rule of law, corruption, organized crime, institutional weakness. Last five months protesters are calling for change in these areas. @EU_Commission silence should give way to strict but fair oversight that supports 🇦🇱 in meeting European standards.
As protests in Albania proceed without major tension for two days, PM Rama escalates provocations again. He demanded the resignation of public administration directors in a fake "reform"-while sparing police, education, and healthcare, the top sectors condemned by the youth.
Over 500 detentions & arrests of Albanian youth have been reported in a week of protest turmoil. The vast majority of these arrests were deemed illegal by the prosecution. Meanwhile, severe psychological pressure inside police stations across the country continues to be reported
🚨🇦🇱🤣 ALBANIAN PROTESTERS ARE NOW FISHING FOR COPS WITH CROISSANTS!
Two officers were reportedly caught taking croissants from a kiosk wrecked during the protests. Now protesters are dangling pastries on fishing hooks in front of the police cordon.
🥐 FROM LAW ENFORCEMENT TO BREAKFAST HUNTERS. ALBANIA’S POLICE HAVE OFFICIALLY BECOME THE BAIT!

This is the 36-year farce in Albania. One ruling faction in Parliament always claims the country is flourishing, while the other claims to fight for the people. In the end, both factions stand together—Edi Rama and Sali Berisha, both strongly rejected by the protesters. 🦩
Socialist ex-Foreign Minister Ditmir Bushati calls on his ruling party "to rise to the height demanded by the times." Supporting the Albanian youth protest, Bushati urges that this backing be given to them by every citizen of the country.
As former President Aleksandar Vucic seeks to extend his 12-year hold on power by running for prime minister in an October 25 election, interviews with activists, student protesters and opposition politicians paint an increasingly authoritarian picture of Serbia where critics are routinely threatened, press freedoms are waning and corruption is on the rise https://t.co/wsnDaGiUpG
Former AC Milan & S.S Lazio director Igli Tare has been officially charged with money laundering. Prosecutors allege he hid two luxury villas belonging to PM Rama's former Deputy PM and current MP Belinda Balluku—part of a massive probe into high-profile state tenders. #Albania
Albania's ex-Deputy PM Belinda Balluku is officially charged by the Prosecution with 15 crimes, including corruption. She allegedly manipulated tenders worth €1.2B. Still an MP under PM Rama, Balluku recently provoked the youth protesters by demanding they pay for city damages.
OSINT reports (e.g. Dunav Intel) confirm four UAE AF C-17 Globemaster III landings in Tirana over the past 3 days: aircraft regs 1223 and 1225 on two rotations each (callsigns GOLD41–44) from UAE bases. No official details on cargo exist; Albanian government has released none. A separate Turkish A400M on 19 Oct delivered two confirmed TOMA water-cannon vehicles amid ongoing protests.
US Congressman Ritchie Torres offers full support to the youth protest in Albania! International attention is growing as the voice of the young generation demanding accountability and democracy reaches key leaders in Washington. 🇦🇱🇺🇸🦩
I am deeply disturbed by the outbreak of violence against protesters in Albania. The actions taken by the Albanian police are beyond the pale, and must end. Albanians have a right to peacefully protest, the police must respect the protesters right to protest, and the police must maintain the rule of law. The situation must deescalate to calm the alarming violence.
ALBANIA – “MPs must represent the people, not protect the government.”
As Albania's political crisis deepens, independent MP Marjana Koçeku is calling for an entirely new political leadership — while warning that further escalation could push the country towards a dangerous conflict.
Her own political journey is remarkable: In 2025, PM Edi Rama personally selected the then 24-year-old as a parliamentary candidate for his Socialist Party. She left the Socialist parliamentary group in June 2026 and has since joined those demanding Rama's resignation.
Speaking to me in Tirana, Koçeku argued that Albania needs a new generation of political leaders, rather than another return to the familiar figures of the past.
Asked about the danger of a political vacuum, she stressed the responsibility of parliament and its elected members to prevent further confrontation.
An interesting position from someone who entered politics with Rama's personal backing — and now believes the country's political establishment needs fundamental renewal.

As student-led protests against corruption and economic mismanagement continue to rage in Albania, the government has unleashed a violent crackdown that "has never been seen in the country before," says organizer @bora_mema.
