@Remellu Lohen fans are the ones who started this by hyping him up as "finally an evil man in Genshin" & latching onto him so they can have a yandere for ships. Evil "psycho" men are boring but fandoms always hype them up as the best.
@C0rnflakeDemon Lohen fans are the ones hyping him up for getting off on torture & being a sadist. Gotta blame the fans for this one, but also Hyv wanted this audience so.
@TheRedDouglas The problem with Genshin is the narrative never acknowledges ambiguity with any "good faction" chars, which is why instead of it being grey it becomes "murder is ok if we decide the ppl are bad", which is how you get "mc is justified when they killed an entire tribe"
@dorkatzz The way fandoms mostly fetishize mental illnesses in male chars for them to just be "crazy" & that being the reason why they can have the char doing abusive sick shit is something no one wants to talk about. But Hyv also leaned into when marketing him.
I don't expect much from Persona but if they never make a half assed yaoibait shock char like Akechi who existed only for the worst discourse ever again, it'd be an improvement.
You can always tell who will get assigned top if they're considered more mysterious or having no interiority. If they don't have a char arc or if they get their arc later than the bottom, too late, they're boxed in as a top forever & ppl take it so seriously if you deviate.
Its all gender roles & projecting onto the bottom mostly. That's why ppl get angry at the concept of the top having any sort of interiority or feelings, which is why ppl get so strict with it sfw content.
I know everyone has their own preferences when it comes to positions, and Iโm not judging anyone for that (I mean, that would be pretty stupid, right?)
But if the mere idea of your top character being a bottom makes you physically sick, thatโs just homophobia
Its dumb af but that's why. The romanced char exists to be validated so the top can't have a life or even be liked by other ppl. There's so many takes where the ship's friends all like the bottom but hate the top when in canon they're part of the same group of friends like?
Patriachy & abuse are ugly & girls who have to survive under it will also have ugly flaws. The point is women don't need to be "pure beings" to not deserve abuse. Genshin can't ever do this theme because of their fear of having truly flawed playable women.
Anyway no gacha game can ever rly fully tackle patriarchy even if there's some games that do handle it better than others because the whole model of gacha can't be separated from needing profit.
Everyone wants their faves to be like RGU but idt Hyv has an Anthy Himemiya in them. It's actually rly relevant to the themes of RGU that Anthy & most of the girls are flawed ppl, they're not always "nice girls" & that's why the message works.
If anything I think the misogyny comes from Hyv because they stick to the very same gendered tropes with how they write male/female siblings in their games, but that requires actually believing that Hyv is capable of misogynistic bias.
@lleyan611 Zhongli is a mixed case to me because obvs idt he's a "brutish man" but Hyv also seems to be leaning more towards portraying him more trad masc. But the entire linking of top/bottom to arbitrary gender roles is a place on mlm ships.
@lleyan611 I feel for normal fans but it's so obvs when it's only one group I see whine the most that Childe isn't "evil enough" & it always ties to top/bottom bs.
@lleyan611 I see more of this from the "reverse" I guess. It's always one group arguing against "bottom Childe" & they're also the same ppl always complaining "why isn't Childe evil enough" & it's because they want Childe to be even more 1 dimensional to fit the ideal "top" role.
