Apple needs to bring back IPods. Kids should be able to listen to music and audiobooks without having a cell phone or a device that is also a screen for playing games, texting, using the internet. Let kids be kids!

My son had a bday party Friday night. We hosted 15 thirteen and fourteen year old boys.

10 of the boys were homeschooled- 0 cell phones. All engaged and connected to each other the entire party.

5 of the boys go to traditional school- 5 cell phones. 2 of the boys put their phones in the house right away. These two were engaged and connected the entire party, the other 3 kept their phones. They sat by themselves, staring at their phones the entire time only to stop when they were eating pizza. They declined invitations to play basketball and football.

After the party my son mentioned it to us. "Did you notice "so and so" on their phones the whole time? I wonder if they even wanted to be there"

I'm not anti phone, obviously I'm using one right now, I am probably on my phone way too much, but my adult brain knows when to put it down and engage. I'm not sure kids brains work that way.

I can't imagine what a party looks like when all the teenage boys have phones...do they all just stare at their phones ignoring each other?

Sorry, but it’s true..

I’ve traveled to most places in the USA and nothing compares. When you take into account, the people, the climate, the culture, the opportunities, the food, and more, it wins.

It reminds me of northern Athens, Greece but with the power of the USA.

Where else can you have mountains & oceans, perfect weather, all fused with the trendy and artistic flare of the USA as one?

Your kids? They won’t run away from it when they get older like they would a small town.

What about New York?
Born and raised in NYC and living in the most affluent of neighborhoods now on Long Island, it just doesn’t compare. Winter blues take it out of contention.

Florida?
Sorry, the summers are unbearable.

Texas?
Restaurant scene, and culture is lacking. Aesthetically it’s out of contention alone.

Why don’t I live here then?

I used to live in Laguna Beach and my kids were born here, so I have a soft spot for it.

If I didn’t have to travel to Europe so often I would. New York is closer and easier to manage for me.

If I didn’t have to travel to Europe?

I’d be in Southern California.

This isn’t up for discussion, so let’s fight. 😂
