@AdvisorJohn I agree the temporary buydowns are presented to buyers by our industry with the hope of refinancing in the near future and I think we should really make sure they know there’s no guarantee on that. Take the cash now.
@JulieChangRE Yes for some reason it’s still noteworthy to be a lefty. Also I find when I meet other lefty’s , we feel like we have a special bond. It’s weird but maybe it’s because it was pointed out to us so early in life that we are different.
@JulieChangRE It’s true, I ran my numbers to move, you have to want it pretty bad and I do mortgages for a living.
Think we are waiting till at least he is 55 ( 4 years for the hubby) to avoid the major tax increase and then look again.
@NewsLambert That’s also why the portable mortgage idea isn’t going to work. Assuming it was retroactive and that’s a big assumption…those 2020-2021 loans have already been paid down a good amount.
@mortgagereels She’s grasping at straws, if you have been in the trenches since the Great Recession you know, this is not happening now.
I used to think she was sincere but misguided, now I’m not sure.
@SacAppraiser My understanding was always if it doesnt share the same roofline it is valued differently than the main home square footage.
Now that ADUs are more common (comps) and financing recognizes the value add too- perhaps that is changing. Look forward to reading your take.
@mortgagetruth So basically, a half a point lower rate in five years? I’d rather pay some points now and save myself a refi for a half a point or a rate in five years.
