From Wang Qinbo, reporter at Titan Sports:
"Don't waste this golden generation."
On China's U17 team (2009 age group) — Asian top-tier, closer to Japan than ever in 30 years:
They are genuinely Asian top-tier — the gap with Japan is now the smallest in decades.
But the real problem begins now: Many of these talented kids are standing at a crossroads
Three harsh realities:
·CSL spots for Chinese attackers are squeezed by foreign imports
·League Two is full of temptations, low on real development
·Growth after 17 lags far behind foreign peers·
One telling detail: One player wanted to go abroad immediately after a tournament in the Netherlands — because China has nothing like that suffocating, high-intensity pressing game.
Suggestions for the CFA:
① Survey the players — what path do they actually want?
② Ask yourself — what can you provide them?
③ Build a real support system for ages 17–20, based on modern football's demands.
"To avoid wasting this generation, this work should become the CFA's duty."

🏆 China U17 welcomed home as heroes after historic Asian Cup run
After a long journey, China's U17 men's team arrived in Beijing on May 24, following their runner-up finish at the 2026 U17 Asian Cup.
🇨🇳 CFA president Song Kai led senior officials at the airport to greet the team. Nearly 100 fans also showed up to celebrate their young stars.
✅ Despite a narrow 2-3 loss to Japan in the final, reaching the U17 Asian Cup final for the first time in 22 years — and qualifying for the U17 World Cup — is widely recognized as a major achievement at home.
🤔 What's next for head coach Ukishima Bin?
Although public opinion has questioned the Japanese coach's tactics in the final, the CFA has no plans to make a change. For now, he is expected to stay and lead the team into the U17 World Cup.

In the women’s singles final of the 2026 Malaysia Masters, China’s Chen Yufei lost 17–21, 15–21 to Thailand’s Ratchanok Intanon and finished as the runner‑up.
May 24, China’s Li Shifeng captured the men’s singles title at the 2026 Malaysia Masters, defeating Thailand’s Panitchaphon 21–16, 21–17 in the final. The victory secures his successful title defense and marks his first singles championship of the 2026 season.
In the 14th round of the Chinese Football Super League, Dalian Yingbo hosted Chengdu Rongcheng. In the 77th minute, Cephas Malele broke the deadlock; in the 89th minute, Malele’s shot was blocked and Mamadou Traore scored on the rebound to seal the victory. In the end, Dalian Yingbo won 2-0, while Chengdu Rongcheng suffered a second consecutive defeat.
On May 22, the final of the 2026 AFC U-17 Asian Cup took place at King Abdullah Sports City in Saudi Arabia, with China U17 facing Japan U17.
In the first half, Tafuku Satomi, Kakeru Saito, and Maki Kitahara each scored for Japan to give their side a three-goal lead. In the second half, Shuai Weihao assisted Wan Xiang to pull one back for China, while substitute Zhao Songyuan won and converted a penalty to score another goal. In the end, China suffered a narrow 2–3 defeat to Japan and missed out on the title.
Nevertheless, this marked China’s best result in the past ten editions of the AFC U-17 Asian Cup. The team reached the final for the first time in 22 years, having last won the tournament in 2004 with a 1–0 victory over North Korea. As runners-up this time, China will compete in the FIFA U-17 World Cup in November, marking the return of China’s U17 national team to the tournament after a 21-year absence.
After the match, the Chinese team’s Japanese head coach Bin Ukishima said: “I believe the journey the players went through to reach the semi-finals and final has been extremely significant for Chinese football. Across these six matches, we could clearly see their growth and that is something I want to commend them for. ”
In the final round of the women’s singles qualifying tournament for the 2026 French Open, 28-year-old Chinese player Guo Hanyu defeated Greece’s Ksénia Xystra 6–3, 6–4 to advance to the main draw with a perfect record of three wins without dropping a set. It also marks the first time in her career that she has reached the singles main draw of a Grand Slam tournament.
With Guo Hanyu’s breakthrough, the number of Chinese players in the women’s singles main draw at the 2026 French Open has increased from the three who qualified directly through their rankings — Zheng Qinwen, Wang Xinyu, and Zhang Shuai — to four.
China’s U17 men’s team has been drawn into Group H alongside Spain, Morocco, and Fiji.
The U17 women’s team will compete in Group E with the United States, Samoa, and a yet-to-be-determined qualifier from CAF (Confederation of African Football).
The tournament will take place in Qatar from November 19 to December 13.
The top two teams from each group, along with the eight best third-place finishers, will advance to the knockout stage.

The U17 Asian Cup final will kick off at 01:00 Beijing time on May 23, featuring a China vs. Japan showdown.
Ahead of the match, China U17 head coach Ukishima Bin offered his preview:
"Japan has shown strong organization throughout this tournament, so we need to be fully prepared and focus on systematic training. There are things we know about each other and things we don't. So this match may feel different compared to other opponents."
"Reaching the U17 Asian Cup final is very positive for Chinese football. It's the result of years of hard work by many coaches and staff. It has been 22 years since China last won this title — that triumph is unfamiliar to these players, but getting this far shows the long-term effort they've put in."

Following previous rounds in September 2024 and January 2026, the Chinese Football Association (CFA) announced its third batch of sanctions on May 21. A total of 65 individuals are penalized — 17 receive lifetime bans from any football-related activities, and 48 receive bans of five years or less.
Full CFA Statement:
Recently, the CFA Disciplinary and Ethics Committee systematically reviewed and carefully examined case materials regarding match-fixing, gambling, and corruption in football. In accordance with the CFA Disciplinary Code and relevant regulations, the committee completed its disciplinary review of the individuals and clubs involved. To uphold industry discipline, clean up the football environment, and protect competitive fairness, the penalties are announced as follows:
I. Individual Penalties
(a) For 17 football professionals, including Ding Yong and Wu Jingbo, who have been criminally convicted by court judgment, a lifetime ban from any football-related activities is imposed.
(b) For 48 football professionals, including Gao Han and Wang Bo, who seriously violated industry discipline, bans of five years or less from any football-related activities are imposed based on the nature of their conduct, amounts involved, frequency of violations, and degree of culpability.
II. Club Penalty
Based on newly obtained criminal court judgments revealing additional serious violations by Meizhou Hakka Football Club, and following past disciplinary principles for similar cases, the club is penalized as follows: an additional deduction of 6 league points in the 2026 season, and an additional fine of RMB 800,000.
All member associations, clubs, and football professionals must learn from these cases, remain vigilant, and draw firm red lines — resolutely rejecting match-fixing, gambling, corruption, and any other conduct that undermines fair competition. The CFA will continue to implement central government policies on football revitalization, maintain high pressure on violations, advance governance reforms in sports, strengthen industry discipline, improve long-term supervision mechanisms, and work toward a fundamental improvement in football's environment.
