Lime Bikes have literally transformed my experience of London for the better more than any other single piece of public infrastructure built in my lifetime. Vast chunks of London hacked down from 45 minutes to 15 minutes away. We just need to improve the algorithm and mapping so it slowly down automatically on all pavements and other safety features. This already happens in a few heritage areas like St James Park.
This is why the UK is pushing to heavily regulate or ban X. Without it, many of us would remain unaware of what’s really happening on the streets. But one viral post and the authorities are shamed into taking action. How inconvenient for them.
The best country in human history was the UK. They invented industrial technology, vaccines, antibiotics, science, physics, computer science, and modern sanitation. They gave us Monty Python, the Beatles, and Lord of the Rings. Then something happened

Israel made peace with Egypt in 1979, and hasn’t attacked it since.
Israel made peace with Jordan in 1994, and hasn’t attacked it since.
Saudi Arabia never attacked Israel, and Israel hasn’t attacked Saudi.
Maybe Israel just defends itself against enemy belligerents.
Believing that "people wouldn't do crimes if their basic needs were met" while also believing that "greedy rich people are stealing from everyone" never registers to the people who say this shit as inherently contradictory.
From a very credible Labour source:
- Wes Streeting promised the Chancellorship for not running.
- Capital gains raised to match income tax. Possible exit tax.
- Economic focus: devolution, plus state ownership of cost-of-living essentials (energy, water, transport).
- Nothing on AI or tech, bar higher capital gains and an EIS/SEIS-style relief for backing British businesses. (Spoiler: startups now incorporate in Delaware and raise on SAFEs. I’ve done 60+ angel investments; only two were eligible.)
Andy and Wes don’t seem to grasp that tech has been the core engine of growth for 20 years, and AI will only accelerate that.
So why would any founder build here? How does the UK compete with the US and China on AI? Where does growth actually come from?
The world economy is changing fast, and we need to be ready to thrive in it, not just survive.
I really hope this admin appoints some figures who actually get what’s happening. Losing business support early, from a disastrous first budget, was the beginning of the end for Starmer.
