I’m not terribly active on social media these days and don’t feel like posting, but am making an exception: a friend of mine in vetmed who I’ve known for over a decade is battling stage IV melanoma, living paycheck to paycheck, and desperately needs help: https://t.co/ttnOYTLnOI
@CaltransDist3@CaltransHQ I've seen multiple electronic billboards on EB50 in Sacramento that state that the connector from EB50 to SB99 will be closed all weekend, but I can't find that planned closure on your website - is that really going to happen?
@drcrystalheath@KinCONN Very well stated, Crystal. I very much respect everything that you're doing, and even more so, how you go about doing it. Truly incredible work.
@TheFieldOf68@Memphis_MBB Glad to see him thriving in Memphis. Didn't work out as consistently for my horns as we had hoped, but appreciated his effort when he was here. Happy to see him doing well
@EpiEllie@peterrebeiro I'm all for building bridges, but I'm not sure that a site whose owner allows hate speech to become rampant while dictating curation policies to suit his agenda (e.g. those posts containing the term c*s will be removed) is an effective vehicle to accomplish that.
@EpiEllie@peterrebeiro The issue for me is contributing to ad revenue and traffic numbers (leading to more ad revenue), which is a form of support. We do have an open source alternative (bsky) whose stats and epi environments are growing rapidly. Would love to see you over there.
@bomani_jones@rosehorowitch A true corollary of Goodhart's Law - "when a measure becomes a target, it ceases to be a good measure"... and in the process we lose sight of what we were trying to accomplish in the first place.
@benfowlkesMMA I literally feel this. Tweaked my back eating tacos - leaned too far over to avoid getting food on the laptop. A true keyboard warrior here.
@thehouseofpod Two step solution to that problem: 1) only access twitter from a browser, not the native app. 2) control panel for twitter browser extension/app (works on desktop and mobile)
it’s suicide prevention month and all i have to say about that as someone who has survived many attempts and lived with chronic ideation is:
we cannot and should not seek to prevent suicide without committing ourselves to sustaining life by meeting people’s fundamental needs.
