@yannivines2 I agree that Oprah Winfrey is a leader through her widespread media presence, philanthropy and empowerment of millions. Her Oprah Winfrey Foundation also funds education and supports global initiatives. She inspires personal growth and resilience.
@cjd279 Olivia is a great example of a leader because especially as a musical artist with a younger impressionable fan base, she makes sure she is also an advocate and uses her platform to empower and be a role model for those that look up to her.
@NickHolt147311 I agree that Tom Brady, because of his many feats in football, is a leader that has redefined what it means to achieve so much success and accomplishment in ones field. His many accomplishments are inspiring to anyone.
Dolly Parton is a legendary country artist but also a philanthropist and leader in global charity work through her Dollywood Foundation, which supports education and literacy programs, and other efforts like Imagination Library and the My People Fund for wildfire victims. #LIDC92
@JoeNatoli363268 I find the “Better decisions through easier access to unfiltered information” interesting because while true it can also pose a danger as information may be harder to verify. I think assessing the credibility of info becomes harder through social media but can still be helpful.
@HarkinsOli97417 It’s interesting how we live in an age where technology/social media is ever changing and the conversations constantly flow. The younger generation of leaders have adopted new ways of leading/keeping up especially through social media that are inspiring older generations.
@sammrossmann It's interesting to learn about the ways in which a specific social media platform can be used by the leaders for various purposes. I think twitter specifically is made for thought sharing so a lot of the ideas listed pertain to that.
Ruben/Gigliotti emphasize communications role in leadership as a process of social influence. Social media enhances this by increasing leaders’ visibility/authenticity as discussed in this article, but pitfalls show leadership requires strategic communication #LIDC92
@sofiacondron I think Morgan displays being a leader as she speaks on the inequalities and issues within her workplace/environment so that these issues can be brought to light, using her social influence to spur change. She has the platform and uses it because she knows her voice has impact.
@Harsha545231969 I think Mardini is a great example of a leader. Not only is she a leader because of her inspiring success story from being a refugee to eventual olympic athlete, but because she became a Goodwill Ambassador for the UNHCR and shares her story to inspire and advocate for others.
@juliaciacciare I agree Jane Fonda falls under the articles definition of a leader. She clearly has a goal of increasing climate voters by encouraging current climate voters to recruit new members. She’s also hosting training sessions and collaborating with organizations to carry out her goals.
In a Forbes article, Kevin Kruse says a leader “maximizes” instead of just organizing others efforts. The urgency of Nakate’s message and calling on others to share their experiences shows how she maximizes others’ efforts in educating people about the climate crisis. #LIDC92
