How much of the WNBA’s popularity depends on Caitlin Clark? Following the Indiana Fever’s playoff elimination, television viewership for the opening semifinal games was approximately 45% lower than for the Fever’s previous playoff matchup.

While the WNBA has many talented athletes, Clark has become one of its biggest attractions, bringing attention from viewers who might not otherwise watch women’s basketball.

Of course, comparing individual games does not tell the entire story. But the difference is difficult to ignore. Is Caitlin Clark simply the WNBA’s biggest star, or has the league become too dependent on one player to attract a television audience?
