To my Class A and B peeps...
You didn't make varsity.
You didn't qualify for State.
You didn't medal at State.
You didn't win gold.
Get over yourself.
The season is over. You won.

Applied to coaches...
6 Rules for Sports Coaches.
1. It’s their journey, not your résumé
Don’t coach for your record. Coach for their growth.
2. Hard moments are where growth happens.
Don’t remove them. Guide them.
3. Own the locker room tone
What you say, and how you say it, sticks longer than you think.
4. Model what you expect
Effort. Energy. Attitude. They will mirror you.
5. Celebrate the team over the individual
Culture wins when “we” matters more than “me.”
6. Make it about more than the scoreboard
Years from now, they won’t remember the score.
They’ll remember how you made them feel.
Be the coach they remember for the right reasons.
6 Rules for Sports Parents:
1. It’s not about you
2. Struggle is part of the deal
3. Don’t ruin the car ride home
4. Your kid is watching you
5. Cheer for the team
6. Enjoy every moment
One day, the games will end.
Make sure the memories don’t.
Losing Lou Holtz isn’t just a loss—it’s a transfer of responsibility.
At some point, you stop being shaped… and start shaping others.
What he gave me doesn’t stop with me.
Shoutout to all the teachers next week who will let their students watch March Madness during class
I don’t remember much of what I learned, but I will always remember the teachers who let me watch the tournament.
We ALL thank you.

Iowa's Ben McCollum brought up the enemy of great is good in his postgame news conference. Interesting comments.
"People sit in mediocrity for a long time because they start to fall in love with really good. I probably had that happen to me when I was in, like, my seventh or eighth year. We went to three straight Sweet 16s and lost by one, two points. ... I always thought we were really good and close. Then I realized that was the biggest issue that we had, was the fact that we were settling for really good."
"Trying to go from really good to being great is something that is really hard to do, and our kids need to understand really good is not acceptable. It's
actually worse than being bad."
@AquinasNation - my Broadcasting class is just finishing up their PSA Projects for our State Competition. Here is the first - more to come in next couple of days!

A great high school team is built on the smallest, most unglamorous habits: sprinting back on defense every time, making the extra pass without hesitation, boxing out like your job depends on it. Forget style—master substance. Championships are won in the details.
This is Pure Gold. I had the pleasure of spending time with Coach Holtz. I wanted to hear him explain his Three Rules for Life! 1) Do what’s right - trust. 2) Do everything to the best of your ability- commitment. 3) Show people you care - love. It’s pretty simple. He goes on to highlight why the transfer portal is ruining college football. The kids are losing out on the life lessons learned- how to persevere, how to be committed to a program and a group of people. You miss out on the bonds you create over 4 years. If you leave, you still have the problem, you are changing the address. These are words to live by.
@aquinasnation - Here is story #2. Not sure about the subject matter of this Broadcast Story, but I am humbled. Hope you enjoy the product of the hard work of these talented students!
