@FlanaganOnFaith For those looking for some good Catholic fiction, I have a couple of novels out there in the world.

My posts hardly ever get seen anyway, so I don't know that this will matter to anyone.
I am taking an indefinite hiatus from X.
While I appreciate and enjoy the good and holy posts I see from #CatholicX, I have concluded that this app is not helping me grow in holiness.
Despite my attempts to appropriately curate my feed and adjust settings to protect my eyeballs, this app too often exposes me to graphic content I can't unsee and posts that engender anxiety, anger, and enmity.
In addition, it has become a distraction from my necessary duties—both personal and professional. I wish I were able to use X in moderation, but I am not strong enough to do so.
I will keep my account for now, but I have deleted the app and will not be checking my feed or messages any time in the near future. If you'd like to connect with me outside of X, you may visit the contact page on my author website (link in bio).
"Prayer is greatly aided by fasting and watching and every kind of bodily chastisement. In this regard each of you must do what you can. Thus, the weaker will not hold back the stronger, and the stronger will not press the weaker. You owe your conscience to God. But to no one else do you owe anything more except that you love one another."
St. Augustine
@HerreidJohn Every day. Not just Sunday. The Spanish know what’s up. Siesta!
(Pretty sure the Spanish aren’t the only ones, but it’s the only country I’ve been to where they take their siesta very seriously.)
Consider that God’s love is the only thing keeping your soul in existence at any given moment, and then realize what a diabolical lie it is that God would be unable to hear your prayer while in mortal sin.
Cry out to Him in the waiting! His Love is bigger than our worst sin.
I saw the rerelease of The Fellowship of the Ring in the theater yesterday (seeing The Two Towers today and Return of the King tomorrow) and was struck by these very things. Fantastic.
The Lord of the Rings isn't just an epic fantasy — it's a deeply Christian story.
It's packed with subtle religious themes you may not have noticed.
Instead of one Christ figure, there are three... (thread) 🧵
The object of the devotion to the Immaculate Heart of Mary is to love Jesus better by uniting ourselves to Mary and by imitating her virtues.
Her Immaculate Heart is the model of virtue and sanctity.
In Her heart is the hope of the world.
@Alicia_Bittle_ We used to have a cat who always sat in my mom’s lap when she prayed the rosary.
Now I have a cat who likes to join us for the blessing before meals—not sure if it’s the prayer or the food that draws him though 😂
Sort of. But I also have a tendency toward scrupulosity, so my schedule is based on situation versus set times—for example, I “schedule” prayer time when I wake up and every time I get in my car to drive, but those are not always at the same time every day. I do have strictly scheduled hours of adoration in our adoration chapel throughout the week though.
