On the 63rd anniversary of his passing, Nâzım Hikmet continues to illuminate the path of those who struggle for an equal, enlightened, and independent country.
The great poet Nâzım Hikmet passed away 63 years ago today. Throughout his life, he was part of the struggle for the emancipation of humanity. The two most important things in his life were his homeland and his party. Those who tried to separate his art and personality from his communist identity never succeeded.
Today, as exploitation and imperialist aggression intensify, Nâzım’s party calls on everyone to join the struggle against the parasitic capitalist class that seizes our resources for its own interests and seeks to make our country a partner in NATO’s bloody plans, together with its political representatives.

No to an imperialist attack! Solidarity with the people of Cuba!
The Parties of the European Communist Action (ECA) condemn in the strongest possible terms the escalating aggression of US imperialism, including the deployment of the aircraft carrier USS Nimitz in the Caribbean Sea, the baseless accusations levelled against Raúl Castro, and the provocative threats of military attack directed against Cuba, the rights of its people, and the achievements of the Cuban Socialist Revolution.
We denounce the long-standing criminal blockade imposed by the United States against Cuba, which caused inhumane shortages of fuel, electricity, water, food, medicine, and other essential goods.
The US threats are accompanied by a campaign of political expediency pursued by the EU and the bourgeois governments of its member states, which support the despicable pretexts concerning alleged “human rights violations in Cuba”, while themselves trampling on the human rights of an entire people and endangering their lives.
We call upon the peoples to strengthen solidarity with Cuba and its people, to condemn en masse the threats issued by Trump and the US government, and to oppose any plans for military aggression.
The imperialists’ threats against the Cuban people and the Communist Party of Cuba constitute a threat to the peoples of the whole world.
We demand an end to the criminal blockade and the removal of Cuba from the despicable list of “state sponsors of terrorism”.
We demand the withdrawal of the fabricated charges and the revocation of the provocative arrest warrant issued against Raúl Castro, leader of the Cuban Revolution, who defended his country’s territorial integrity against provocations and counter-revolutionary attacks.
We demand an end to all military threats against Cuba and its people.
Solidarity with the Cuban people and the Communist Party of Cuba.
Hands off Cuba!
Cuba is not alone!
Venceremos!

Hands off the Communist Party of India (Marxist)!

The Communist Party of Turkey strongly condemns the organised raid on the residence of Polit Bureau member of the CPI(M) and former Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. This marked the beginning of a series of attacks that continued in Delhi, where Party members gathered to protest against Vijayan’s detention. It is unacceptable that the party leaders and members — including General Secretary M.A. Baby — were assaulted and detained during the protests.
These attacks are clearly politically motivated and systematically organised. The BJP government is once again attempting to suppress communist forces in the country. This latest incident stands as yet another example of the growing repression directed against the working-class movement.
We reaffirm our unwavering solidarity with our comrades in the Communist Party of India (Marxist). No amount of intimidation, violence, or state repression will succeed in silencing a party rooted in the struggles and aspirations of the working masses.
Viva l'internazionalismo proletario!
Press Release: Anti-NATO demonstration in Helsingborg
On Saturday May 16 a large demonstration was held in Helsingborg to protest against the upcoming meeting of the NATO countries' foreign ministers, to be held there on May 21-22. Despite cold and rainy weather around 1000 demonstrators gathered to express their discontent with Sweden's deeper involvement in imperialist military alliance NATO, and to clearly state that it is not welcome in Sweden.
Τhe Communist Party of Sweden (SKP) bloc in the demonstration was joined by our fraternal party, the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) along with comrades from the Communist Youth of Greece (KNE), as both parties participate in the European Communist Action. Several other fraternal parties joined the SKP bloc, including the Communist Party of Denmark (DKP), Tudeh Party of Iran, Communist Party of Norway (NKP), the Sudanese Communist Party and the Syrian Communist Party. Together we made slogans such as "Withdrawal from NATO can only take place - through struggle against capital, with the SKP!" echo along the streets of Helsingborg.
The demonstration opened with music and speeches in the Furutorp Park, where Zahira Sarhan from SKP's Central Committee was the first speaker, highlighting the state’s deceitfulness and its war plans. To open up for increased exploitation by Swedish capital, the state must present war as the only possible option—and it is you who will be sacrificed for this so-called sacred purpose. It was further made clear that NATO is not the so-called “defensive alliance” that the parliamentary parties claim it to be, but in reality a network of terror that leaves misery and death in its wake. NATO is used by the bourgeoisie as one of many imperialist tools to curb the development of socialism and peace, with the sole aim of continuing the exploitation of the working class.
After the speeches, the demonstration marched through Helsingborg, concluding at the terrace steps in the city center. The struggle for peace and socialism continues, and even if NATO were to disappear or be reshaped in the future, the work of the SKP and the ECA will not be finished. We will fight capitalism and imperialism wherever they exist and in all their forms.
Not one weapon, not one rifle! Not a single Euro for NATO’s war machine!

We oppose the commercialization of health. Health is a social good, not a privilege for the few
«The bourgeoisie…has transformed the personal dignity of man into an exchange value, and has replaced the countless freedoms—granted and won—with the single, shameless freedom of trade.»
( K. Marx, F. Engels, The Communist Manifesto, 1848 )
Since the late 1980s, public healthcare has everywhere—especially in the EU—been one of the sectors most affected by capitalist restructuring. According to the OECD, total healthcare spending has risen sharply in real terms from 1991 to the present, while the share allocated to public healthcare, also in real terms, has remained essentially stagnant—or has even declined significantly in Italy, Greece, and Spain. This has occurred alongside a corresponding increase in public funding for private healthcare through general taxation, the growing reliance on private health insurance, and the expansion of costs not covered and paid directly by users (so-called out-of-pocket expenses).
Public healthcare facilities are being transformed into enterprises and managed according to private-sector criteria by hospital managers, whose primary objective is not patients’ health but financial performance. Chief physicians and other senior medical staff are often co-opted by healthcare and pharmaceutical companies under profit-driven business logics, which often results in medical decisions being made not on the basis of purely healthcare-related criteria and the patient’s best interests, but rather with the aim of serving the financial interests of those companies. Medical and paramedical staff are deliberately and significantly understaffed, waiting lists for medical services grow longer, patient co-payments increase, while the remaining services still covered by public healthcare decline in both quantity and quality—services which are not truly free, since they have already been paid for by taxpayers. All of this pushes those who can afford it toward private insurance and private healthcare, while those without sufficient means are forced to forgo treatment—a troubling and growing phenomenon that reveals a class-based discrimination, effectively denying the universality of healthcare provision and the right to health hypocritically proclaimed in bourgeois constitutions.
The outsourcing of services and treatments to private companies, NGOs and social cooperatives, in place of public provision, proves even more costly for public finances than maintaining such services within public structures, while reducing quality and increasing the exploitation of workers, in terms of longer —often exhausting— hours and more intense workloads combined with low wages.
Faced with growing needs for care—due both to increased life expectancy and to the intensification of exploitation in production, as well as the physically and mentally exhausting nature of labor—the bourgeois state strengthens surreptitious forms of privatization, the so-called public-private partnerships that dismantle public healthcare and turn health into a commodity to the benefit of capital operating in the sector, whether directly (such as pharmaceutical companies and private healthcare providers) or indirectly (such as banks and insurance companies).
The resources thus diverted from protecting the health of the popular masses are instead used to finance rearmament and public support measures for private accumulation and profit, in a form of reverse welfare that takes from the working class and popular strata to the bourgeois class. This process finds its legal basis in the European Semester Recommendations and in the macroeconomic constraints of the Stability and Growth Pact, adopted by the European Commission and the bourgeois governments of EU member states—constituting yet one more reason to strengthen the struggle to exit this and all imperialist alliances.
While capitalism dismantles public healthcare and forces proletarians and the popular strata to endure serious injustices, inequalities, and disparities in treatment even in the field of healthcare —despite the tremendous development of scientific discoveries and technological capabilities—, we wish to recall that socialism has always guaranteed the right to health and to high-quality, completely free healthcare for all. Even today, socialist Cuba, despite the enormous difficulties caused by the criminal blockade imposed by U.S. imperialism, remains at the forefront of medical research and in ensuring free healthcare for its people.
Communists declare that the right to health is a universal right—above all a social one—of the human being, fundamental to ensuring the quality and dignity of life, as well as its duration. Like all the rights that capitalism denies us, this must be asserted by demanding no sacrifice for the profits of capital or the slaughterhouses of war, in opposition to the privatization of the sector, and by demanding universal, free public healthcare in the direction of our broader struggle for socialism-communism.

Take your filthy and bloodstained hands off Cuba and the Cuban revolutionaries
In recent months, U.S. imperialism has escalated its aggression against Cuba through an oil blockade, a new wave of sanctions targeting state institutions and officials, and repeated threats of military intervention. In an attempt to manufacture a veneer of legitimacy for this escalating hostility, it has now added yet another fabricated accusation to its chain of lies. It has issued an indictment against Raúl Castro based on the nonsense claim that he ordered the downing of two U.S. civilian aircraft in 1996, resulting in the deaths of four people.
The U.S. government, which has long since crossed every line of legitimacy, is now attempting to extend its hand against Raúl Castro, one of the historical leaders of the Cuban Revolution, who continues to hold the historical title of Army General.
We see no need whatsoever to debate the falsity of these claims, which are nothing but the product of anti-communist hysteria manufactured by the U.S. Department of Justice. We categorically condemn this attempt in its entirety.
The leadership of the Cuban Revolution has withstood the harshest trials of history with dignity and has been vindicated by history itself. To attempt to place Raúl Castro—who has carried out the most critical responsibilities in this historic struggle and who holds an indelible place in the hearts and minds of the Cuban people as a hero of the revolution—on the defendants’ bench of such so-called courts is beyond the authority of anyone, least of all U.S. imperialism.
Whenever the United States accuses Cuba, the real perpetrator is always itself. Just as it seeks to blame Cuba’s socialist system for the country’s energy shortages, it now attempts to hold Cuba responsible for the consequences of its own terrorist operations.
The aircraft downed in 1996 by the Cuban Revolutionary Armed Forces were not ordinary civilian planes. They belonged to the Miami-based counterrevolutionary group Brothers to the Rescue, one of the CIA-backed organizations at the forefront of counterrevolutionary activity.
This organization repeatedly carried out operations aimed at inciting the Cuban people against their revolutionary government, violating Cuban airspace with propaganda flights, radio transmissions, and even attempts to disperse biological agents over agricultural areas. These illegal activities were repeatedly documented, reported to the U.S. government, and warnings were issued that continued violations would result in the aircraft being shot down. Despite this, the U.S. government continued to support and encourage these groups.
The Cuban people and the Cuban government have every right to defend their homeland against counterrevolutionary operations and terrorist attacks. Cuba has the sovereign right to defend itself. With this baseless indictment, U.S. imperialism is once again targeting Cuba’s right to self-defense.
By raising such a case three decades later, the United States is attempting to pave the way for potential military escalation and to create conditions for targeting Cuba’s leadership through coercive and unlawful means.
Communist Party of Turkey stands firmly against all attacks targeting Cuba and will continue to do so. We stand with the Cuban people and their revolutionary leadership.

No dejaremos sola a Cuba.
¡Viva Cuba!
¡Abajo el imperialismo!
Cuba will not stand alone against U.S. aggression!
Since the triumph of the Cuban Revolution, US imperialism has spent 67 years deploying every possible method of pressure, terror and destabilization to force the Cuban people into submission.
These decades have seen the Bay of Pigs invasion, covert CIA operations, sabotage campaigns, biological attacks against Cuba’s agriculture, hundreds of assassination attempts against revolutionary leaders, terrorist violence by proxy forces, diplomatic encirclement, media disinformation campaigns, and an ongoing economic and financial blockade intended to strangle the Revolution.
They failed every single time. The enormous political, economic and intelligence resources devoted to destroying Cuba produced nothing but defeat for the United States. Because what stood before them was not merely a “regime” they found undesirable, but a politically conscious and organized people who had won their independence through revolution.
But despite repeated failure, Washington did not give up its destructive campaign against honorable people of Cuba.
Because the existence of a sovereign, socialist country with a state-led and planned economy for more than six decades, just miles from their shores has always represented a historic defeat for U.S. imperialism. The Cuban Revolution demonstrated to the peoples of Latin America that another path was possible and openly challenged the imperialist system imposed on Washington’s so-called “backyard.” Washington’s bitterness and hostility stem precisely from this historic challenge.
Driven by this historic frustration, successive U.S. administrations intensified their aggression each time they failed against Cuba. They assumed that they could finally strangle the Revolution when the Soviet Union collapsed and again after the death of Fidel Castro, yet Cuba endured.
Today, as part of a broader wave of aggression aimed at restoring its weakening global hegemony, U.S. imperialism is once again attempting to force Cuba into submission. Donald Trump, abandoning even the old diplomatic rhetoric dressed up in the language of “human rights” and “democracy,” openly threatens Cuba in the crude language of colonial domination. He seeks to go down in history as the president who finally fulfilled Washington’s 67-year-old dream.
The Trump administration’s policy toward Cuba is well known. In recent months, sanctions targeting the energy sector, interventions aimed at disrupting fuel supply chains, pressure imposed on third countries, and the expansion of financial siege mechanisms have all been designed to push Cuba toward economic paralysis. Prolonged blackouts, transportation crises, disruptions in production, and severe shortages of basic necessities have made daily life extraordinarily difficult for the Cuban people and placed their health and future at risk. Through what Cubans rightly describe as a genocidal policy, Washington seeks to force the Cuban people into submission and destroy the revolutionary government.
Yet rather than surrendering in the face of this aggression, the Cuban people continue to confront the complex challenges created by the blockade with determination and collective solidarity. They are developing creative solutions through mass mobilization while also pursuing long-term strategies aimed at securing economic stability and energy sovereignty beyond the grip of U.S. imperialism. Despite the blockade, the Communist Party of Cuba continues to defend public healthcare, education and the other achievements of socialism. The social collapse anticipated by imperialism has not materialized. Cuba has not bowed down.
The clearest expression of this determination has been the My Signature for My Homeland (Mi Firma por Mi Patria) campaign, signed by millions of Cubans, as well as the massive May Day mobilizations held across the island demonstrating the people’s unwavering commitment to the Revolution.
Having failed to achieve its objectives, the Trump administration has now begun voicing direct military threats against Cuba with increasing intensity. In particular, known for his political career built on hostility toward Cuba, Secretary of State Marco Rubio and the anti-Cuban circles gathered around him are pushing Washington’s historically aggressive Cuba policy in an even more reckless, vindictive and militaristic direction. Intertwined with the Miami-based anti-Cuban establishment, the Republican far right, and interventionist networks embedded within the U.S. bureaucracy, this political bloc seeks to normalize direct military aggression against Cuba.
Should U.S. reactionaries attempt a military attack against Cuba, the Cuban people will defend their country with the full historical legacy of the Revolution, their organized strength and their anti-imperialist consciousness. In such a confrontation, the United States would face not only Cuba’s armed forces, but millions determined to defend their revolutionary homeland.
The Communist Party of Turkey stands absolutely clear and resolute on this question.
Our position remains unchanged: we stand firmly with Cuba against imperialist aggression, economic siege and threats of military intervention and deem it our historic responsibility to widen solidarity with the people of Cuba. In the event of an imperialist aggression, we are prepared to mobilize all our political, organizational and social resources in solidarity with Cuba.
Cuba will not stand alone. Imperialist brutality will not overcome the resistance of the Cuban people, who continue to carry the banner of socialism and the dignity of humanity. The Communist Party of Turkey will remain committed to strengthen the internationalist solidarity with revolutionary Cuba across the world.
Long live Cuba!
Down with imperialism!
