At the end of the summer, I gave an invited talk at the @M2lSchool in Thessaloniki about training neural networks.
It's a bit of a jumble of ideas, suggestions and best practices I've amassed over the years, interspersed with concrete examples.

I had the chance to showcase my most recent work on self-supervised learning during the @M2lSchool, marking my inaugural experience with an in-person poster presentation. @insight_centre @scienceirel.
Had the privilege of attending the funeral mass of Dr. Kevin McGuinness today of @insight_centre and @DCU. What a remarkable young man, and a giant of a person, not to mention his research allocades. Beautiful words by his wife & his colleague @oconnorn
what a footprint you left

Mourning the loss of my friend, colleague, and #1 co-autor Kevin McGuinness (@kevinmcguinness).
A brilliant mind, the kindest heart, and pioneer in the introduction of deep learning to @UPCTelecos@UPC_School Barcelona.
Big hug to my Irish friends @DCU@insight_centre
Indian PhD students from @iiscbangalore, who have first-authored papers at prestigious conferences like @CVPR, are facing unjust denials of Canadian visas. With Shocking reasons "limited employment possibilities in India" and "purpose of visit not consistent with a temp. stay."
Trinity has taken key steps to improve #funding for #PhD researchers, including consolidating the University’s three internal #postgraduate#research schemes and increasing their associated #stipends to €25,000.

#Ireland is not a ideal place to do #PhD. No employee status and the stipends are lower than the minimum wage. non-EU researchers like myself face a 1000€ yearly research expense for the residence permit and mandatory health insurance that @scienceirel refuses to reimburse.
Today we sent a public letter to @PhilipNolan_SFI, Director General of the SFI @scienceirel, the largest funder of PhDs in Ireland.
We asked for unequivocal advice to all SFI centres to let non-EU PhDs claim expenses for mandatory insurance and the Irish Residence Permit 1/6
I am still paying 300 euros every year to renew my residence permit for 4 years and it is not considered as residential years for longer residence. Instead, I will have to work for another 5 years. If you are non-EU student looking for PhD, avoid Ireland.
