@madebydbm @AdobeCare If you have Red Giant Supercomp installed (part of the RG VFX suite from Maxon), make sure to install the latest updates. There was a known issue where the Supercomp plug-in was causing After Effects to crash during quit.
@adamalbo Good feedback, thanks! We're not aiming for Redshift style rendering. :D
Would love you to post your thoughts over on the Adobe Forums (link in OP). That's a better place for our team to see it.
Available today in After Effects Beta: native 3D model import

Can't emphasize enough how hard the team has worked on this + how much under the hood is different to make it work. Long road ahead to get out of beta. Appreciate you trying it + your thoughts.
@MrSpocksEars @Anguslyne I suspect whatever you're seeing, it's always worked this way, yeah.
But doesn't mean it's the way it should/has to work. Evolution FTW. I try to grok the problem so I can evaluate expectations, bring ideas to the team. Helps to have a clear, concise description of the problem.
@MrSpocksEars @Anguslyne OK, thanks much for the recording.
Issue seems to be setting rotation vs. orientation. You're getting consistent results from rotation but not orientation. Correct?
@MrSpocksEars @Anguslyne There's a control in the toolbar for local vs world vs view axes. Might have to choose the Selection tool first to change it. Does this apply to what you're looking at?
A screen recording would help me understand that and the wobbly issue.
@Anguslyne @AsrulNasirudin I get it.
We're aiming to make things better. It may be a chicken&egg problem. We want to know how you'd like to see things change, but that requires you to articulate differences. If you're not using it you don't have a basis of comparison.
Regardless, we'll keep listening.
@AsrulNasirudin @Anguslyne Understood the intent. Is this different from the Extended Viewer option that AE has when Draft 3D is enabled? Or am I misunderstanding?
I'm sure there are other tweaks to navigation that would be helpful. We're doing a lot of listening right now. Truly appreciate the discourse.
@MrSpocksEars @Anguslyne Can you please elaborate on "gizmo world axis/local axis is fixed"? I'm not familiar with all of the bugs or workflow hangups, but can look into it if you give me some pointers.
@MrSpocksEars @mr_bartoszz Yeah, I'd be interested in this answer, too.
After Effects is made by people. We ain't perfect, neither is AE. We're always trying to do better
I never promise that AE will be exactly what any one person thinks it should be. We listen and do our best to improve each new release
@AeCartographer Generally no, roadmaps aren't published. They change frequently.
For 3D, immediate direction indicated in Beta: import models, light + render, export.
Is there a specific capability/workflow that's important to you? A goal of releasing Beta is to get feedback about direction.
@elrobles No current plans to change Cineware
Don't be hasty to judge the Beta release. We're at the start of a journey. True, not all planned functionality ready, will take time to finish. We offer it now to share progress & get feedback. Would love for you to try it & post on the forums
@f_faranna Camera + light import is on the roadmap. First step was models importing + rendering.
Alembic possible in the future. Mind this is in Beta, we're building incrementally, "near" future is squishy.
Please post your reactions and ideas to the Beta forum!

@EricThriller Please do try it in the Beta builds and post your reactions on the forum.
Also: this is a work in progress! We'll be evolving this in Beta, not only based on current plans but on the feedback we get.
