📢 *Community notice for Environment Impact Assessment and Water License for Water Pipe replacements*
6 November 2024 Time 19h00 - Cllr Devon Steenkamp 083 397 9914
Joburg Water is initiating a significant project to replace outdated asbestos cement pipes in Sundowner with safer, high-impact PVC and HDPE pipes. This upgrade aims to reduce water loss and enhance service reliability. The project scope includes:
Replacing approximately 2309 meters of old asbestos pipes with modern, high-impact PVC and HDPE pipes.
Using open-trench construction and directional drilling for key road crossings.
Reconnecting the new pipe network to the existing system.
Restoring disturbed surfaces to their original condition.
Replacing all underground domestic water meters in the area.
Why Public Participation?
This project requires environmental authorization, so residents have the opportunity to raise concerns or support the project through the public participation process. This allows you to stay informed, register as an Interested and Affected Party (I&AP), and contribute your views, which will be considered by the project team and environmental authorities.
To view the Study area of the proposed water pipe replacement visit https://t.co/VMXm8kuxhF
WHAT ARE THE POTENTIAL ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACTS ASSOCIATED WITH THE PROPOSED PROJECTS?
